thats bullshit. sadly it'll never end.

i dont mind if its a justified reason for a defect, fine etc. its just the bullshit ones. My R31 got defected for no water in the window washer bottle. yet he didn't realise the rb25det centimetres away....you hear some wierd stories out there...

I got defected for my rear tyres being 50mm over track on my old RX-2, but despite lifting the bonnet to check, didn't see anything wrong with a T04 hanging off the side of the motor lol

nope if it is a Regency defect you are screwed - take the car back to completely standard and they will still find worn bushes, imperfect tyres, dirty brake fluid, minor fluid leaks at the back of the trans/engine etc etc .... sorry man you are royally screwed.

However I thought they had to find 3 things in order for it to be a Regency defect - otherwise like scandy said you should be able to get it cleared by a local cop shop

um....nup :P

all u need is a regency defect, like exhuast, suspension etc. i got done for just exhuast and it was a regency defect.

Best way not to get caught..

Don't lower it

No big arsed Milo Tins

Keep the exhaust reasonably quiet

No tint on the front windows

No interior guages illegally mounted

No pfc hand controller in view.

Wheels are fine providing they are legal.

In other words keep it looking stockish. :)

Its the lowered + milo tin that gets their attention. Thats from the horses mouth.

i think a lot of it too cubes is how you drive as well . mine has dark tint i know it;s not legal . has the big milo tin exaust and has been lowered about a inch . however i baby it around keep it clean and dont drive like a tosser .i have had it 18 months now and never been pulled over or giving a second glance . i dont have a body kit on it tho and when they see a old fart driving they prob think its some old fart having a mid life crisis lol

cheers

hrmm not always.. as I found out

I had tint on my front windows, the cars not lowered and doesn't have a milo tin. (sort of contradicts my previous post lol)

There was a defect station down at Marion shopping centre in the middle of the day.

Went for a little shopping with the other half and the bubs in the back when a copper stopped traffic, walked 3 cars down and told me to pull over.

He said he spotted my tint as I came around the corner and its was too dark (it was 30%) and I had to remove it otherwise he would defect me, so off it came. He gave the car a quick look over but didn't ask to pop the bonnet *luckly* as the car didn't have the carbon canister installed as the stupid crash shop forget to do so.

I was driving unbelievably slow as I had just turned a corner behind traffic and literally just limping the 3ltr around at 1500rpm it was making zero noise etc.

I think that was just bad luck.. Prior I had driven the car around for just over 4years with the same dark tint on it. BUT I don't do the usual Anzac/Hindley/Rundle runs. Its basically just an A to B car. :)

yer i dont drive like a nut either, only reason i got pulled over was cop seriously had nothing to do. HE pulled me over for one thing, then had to actually pull out his tape measuer to make sure what the height of my car was. If it was legal height, he wouldve just looked for something else.

It comes down to how much of a knob the copper is really, cos if they want u to go he will find something. Remember the law - they only have to SUSPECT something is wrong to defect u - not actually have proof or evidence...

remember as well, with a defect u have less rights than if he was searching your car for drugs or a gun, as they need probable cause to search

i am fully aware that i prob will get pulled over and defected one day altho i hope not . i avoid driving places that are likely to increase that happening ie glenelg and avoid the city as much as possiable our gets used 4 or 5 times a week and gen every weekend so it spends its time on the road . funny thing is i have a 4 inch exaust from the cat back and the rear muffler has a 6 inch arse on it but unless you really plant it is not too loud at all give it the boot tho and it really howls up in the rev range not sure of the brand of exaust as it was on the car when i got it

    • Do they always do it from the AFM? If so... You know what I'm already thinking I reckon...
    • The other problem is that the pan is on an exchange basis, which would be a pain to have to send original sump to Oz for the work to be done. Would ideally need to be able to pay for a locally sourced core. To that end - I'd just fabricate one outright.
    • Not at all, pure street use, touge, even drag strip and you'll be fine   There's a larger version of it too, however would be overkill for your application. If you do plan on using that sump, might as well fit a headdrain/crank case vent to help alleviate crank case pressure. Your mechanic will also notice you cannot re-use the AWD windage trays on the motor too, as it fouls with the AWD -> RWD sump. However given your usage, you'll be fine.
    • @GTSBoy yeah but the MAIN problem is that "you" guys may know that but i/my mechanic did not. I literally spend hours to find differences between Stagea and Skyline engine (even here) and found kinda "nothing" Yeah one guy mentioned that the block is larger/wider but nothing about the oil pan. Of course AWD has different one but "everybody" says...yeah just slap RWD pan... and the parts number for my N/A engine and NEO DET were the same so iam using one from my old engine. And of course being in EU/Czech many of the sites did not even show(i need VPN to be here)... @MBS206NO it is not my channel and not my video. Dont even know the guy. I just post this as a reference cuz i have the same problem. As i said you guys in AU/NZD may know this but here it is kinda a new info cuz IF someone doing this swap they already have oil pan or they make custom one.  @Dose Pipe Sutututu Yeah it is AWD RB25DET NEO Yeah as you mentioned the pick up is in a different place ...but i do not drift or track the car. It is and will be strictly street and just "casual" weekend cruiser. With that "custom" pan as shown in the video...could there be some problems?  For others. Iam sorry if that topic "looks" like i want to show/boost some YT channel or numbers. Iam quite the opposite.  I would rather drive my car thru sewers than get the attention that this car gets here. I do not have any YT channel nor IG/Twitter or TikTok. I just want some info from time to time cuz here...there is none :-)
