Problems With Installing An 040 Fuel Pump To An R32

Hey all, im installin a 040 fuel pump ito my R32 gtst, i have modifyed the bracket and wires to take it all,

my prob is now the whole assembly is to long by about 2cm, how do i get aroud this,

The only way i see it happening is if i cut down the zinc coted pipe that conects to the top of the pump ,because the top of the pump and bottom of the pipe are pushed up to each other,

something i would rather not do, if there is another way around

Can someone please help or post a link to pics or a write up of someone here who has done this,

mate its the only way i have done the install my self. i must cut the bottem of the braket off.. and the feed hose i think i remember the whole thing must be 10 inches!

you goto chop the bottom of the bracket and mount the pump as low as you can seems you dont have the sock thingy on the 040 pumps

044 and 040 are completly dif size

You have to cut the pipe, theres no other way. You also need to make sure the pump assembly is the same length as original. If its too long, and say the pump is sitting ON the bottom of the tank, thats no good becos then there will be no room for fuel to actually get into the pump!

Yeah mate, I had the same problem and had to cut the pipe. Also there's no mount for the rubber grommet on the bottom so just hose clamp like dangerman4 Good Luck

I thought 044 was a external pump?

Thanks for everyones input, in the end i cut 15mm off the pipe which left the bottom of the pump 3-4mm off the bottom of the tank. And it works great!.

its called an external pump cause it doesnt come with a sock for the pickup.

yet its very simple to install a sock from a v8 falcon and install as usuall
