Seen these before? Easily remapped? Anyone even got one? ~800 for a trade in ur stock ecu for one of these sounds ok...

I asked Mine's and they said this is only part they hold for ECR33's. They are still alive and kicking.

I dont know where you get $800 from, but you need to check your exchange rate. 96,000 yen is just over $1000 plus shipping of your ecu there, plus weeks wait while they send one back, plus the shipping back. It would be over $1200. plus it's just a re-map of a standard ecu. you could do it here for less (hell you get buy a power FC for less) and at least whatever you did here would be tailored to your car and aus conditions.

There must be some benefit though. I mean you pay ~800 (because I did conversion... dont make this an argument about conv rates its about vx-rom.) and you trade in your ECU for this one, it has to be something better than just be a Mine's part.

Do you pay the amount just for a re-mapped ECU and a Mine's sticker on it? I sent another email to Mines to give me all the features about the ECU. They got back to me within 2 hours last time so well see.

I got to say I'm a big fan of Mine's tuning, they do a fantastic job on their cars.

go ahead and buy it, but i can tell you, it's just a remapped standard ecu with speed limit removed, rev limit raised, fuel cut removed and mapping suitable for higher boost. and yes the price is relevant to this thread. 96,000 yen is over $1000AUD plus you have to pay for shipping both ways and do without an ECU for a few weeks. a power FC for instance which is readily tuneable can be had for around $1000 AND you still have your old ecu so no time spent off the road, and when you swap you can sell your old ECU for say $150. Total cost then is $850 + tuning.

I also think mines are a great tuning company, but buying a pre-tuned ecu from another country, from a tuner that has never seen your car is not a smart idea. taking your car to mines and getting them to map a chip for you in real time on the other hand would be great. if you lived in japan that is.

and FTR I have previously used a mines ecu in one of my cars.

^^ his right mate. i also love the mines tunning shop & their work. but honestly better to get a power fc and get it locally tuned. i sold my power fc that came with my car because it wasnt tuned and i didnt have the money to tune it at the time so i bought a mines ecu. i 100% regret doing that hahaha. dont get me wrong the mines ecu is good for bolt ons (exhaust air filter etc), but once u start doing injectors/afm etc u'll need something that is re-tuneable.

    • I was just driving into work and while on my drive, I went to accelerate and noticed the car would sputter/hesitate and I’d hear a few pops from the exhaust before it started going faster. Then I also noticed that when I push my clutch in, the car would die. This all started happening today. Any ideas?
    • That is a lovely Volvo, just saying. Yes I should have got an 260RS when they were cheap. I do regret now.
    • ^ lots of good points made above. The thing is, "aggressive" or "flush" fitment is relative depending on how much you have been influenced by social media. My starting point is always "look at the Nismo RWD specs". That is where you should start, then start measuring as GTSBoy as sort of mentioned, because every car will be slightly different. My 8.5"+35/9.5+38 will not be "flush" enough for you because you want more "pumped" look, which is why you measure. Tyre sizes and brand/models also make a difference. Some tyres are more chunky/square, some are more rounded. That means you could get away with more aggressive offsets without rubbing. But then it also depends on your ride height. Also depends on how much your car copped damage before being shipped from Japan. So it goes back to measuring your car yourself and determining what can work. Those Nismo specs are used bacause it's a safe spec for standard car (suspension. body) with chunky tyres. But then I put 265/35 wide tyres on R34 GT-R wheels, and currently run 285/30 tyres on 18x10 wheels.
    • Sounds pretty awesome. I recommend creating a new build thread and posting all your goodness in there.
