A mate is in the market for another Skyline & its come down to a 2door R34 GT. But, before he commits would like to know the difference between these two special edition NA models?

If I remember correctly the GT-V is RWD, comes as 2 door or 4door & has similar specs (brakes, suspension etc) to the GT-T with the exception of the standard traction control & centre console gauges.

Would I be right in assuming the GT-X is AWD?

Any help would be appreciated.

Are you sure the n/a's came with gt-t brakes?

When I was shopping for my car I was at a dodgy dealership on parramatta road that was trying to pass off a n/a that had a turbo conversion as a GT-T (selling at a gt-t price etc.) It had the crappy non turbo brakes i:e no cover over the tops with the nissan writing, smaller than the gt-t brakes etc.

It looked the goods as a Gt-t, nice rims/kit other than the fact I spotted the difference between the brakes. The look on the salesman's face was priceless when I caught him out trying to sell it to me as a factory GT-t. Moron

Safe to say I didn't buy from there :)

Wasn't my old blue one was it? It ended up down that way, resprayed original colour with chromies and no boot spoiler....the whole 'How to turbo your N/A" thread is about it's build-up

I'm pretty sure the GT-V version had the GT-T brakes.

Cheers 666DAN. However, been reading up on the very little info available on the GT-X & came across a pic of a GT-X that allblitz has for sale (on the forums) & it looks NA (as attached) - ie. can't see any boost gauge, no intercooler & different NEO cover. So it seems the GT-X comes both NA & turbo.

Hmmm, same colour. Although the one I saw had a nissan sports kit & 18" or 19" bronze wheels. This would be going back a few months too.

The dealership shall remain nameless, although they may be found opposite from a restaurant that makes very tasty kebabs & right next to a hi-fi entertainment shop that has it's origins in Strathfield. :D:):ninja:

hahahaha..same thing happened with me at parramatta rd. The one i saw was in midnight blue with yea rims, exhaust and fmic. The second i lifted up the bonnet i saw a na motor with a turbo conversion staring in front of me. The guys there were clueless and saying that they got it traded in from guys over at qld then they kept telling me it was the gt-t model.

I then pointed out to them the whole engine is different, showed them under the car and told them it hasnt got HICAS, brakes, and the bloody cover which says NEO STRAIGHT 6. Also showing them pics of my old na r34 :) Also had the 3 guages in the middle but the discolouration says its been put there recently.

SUss things: The ignition has been changed so there are now 2 keys, the boot is pretty messsed up, with panels broken off and missing, no engineering certs and blue nissan label scratched and in pretty bad unreadable condition.

Yep..selling at GT-T price as well. If anyone here do see this car, dont for a second think of buying it. (oh yea it has a sunroof as well)

LoL, if the wheels were bronze it's probably the exact same car that I saw. :stupid: it also still had the blue GT badges if I'm not mistaken

    • Hopefully it ends up being something manageable, like a hone, rather than a full bore—it would be a huge relief if it’s not as bad as it looks. Hang in there; these setbacks are annoying, but it sounds like you’re handling it as smartly as possible.
    • At the end of the day, it’s all about understanding the odds and being comfortable with the potential cost, whether it’s horsepower on a build or chips on a roulette table. And I have to say, the Laine example made me laugh—some people really do embrace that carefree, “roll and see” attitude!
    • Thanks MBS206, i got that PDF but got abit overhelm with all the connections and tracing of wires. I wasn't expecting to plug the dash harness anywhere. i was just going to use my electronics jumper wires to plug into the right pins like ECU power, ecu ground, ignition trigger etc... I do have a few ratchet straps locking it down tight. Fire extinguisher ready and only a small amount of fuel at a time, enough to submerge the pump.
    • Thanks GTSBoy, i will do abit more digging. I am missing a blue relay near the ECU connector... so i will chase that up in the next few days as well
    • https://yariksteel.ru/manual/R33/Skyline_R33_elektroprovodka.pdf   Page 18 should be what you want for the Dash Cluster wiring. Though, you don't need the dash plugged in to get the motor running. What you want is power as how GTSBoy said. You need to power the ECU. Find in the above link the ECU pin outs (Verify them before just connecting them up from things written on the internet). Find anything needing power, give it power, find anything needing ground, give it ground. Then give the starter motor power through a big cable, and bridge the solenoid on the starter straight to power too.  ECU will be on, and when you give the starter power, it'll spin the starter motor, and it should start. I also hope you have a proper stand, and not just the engine sitting on some wood. You will want it bolted down properly.
