I have had an intercooler fitted and if im on the moterway and drop down to third at 80-100kmh and floor it, when i get to 5000rpm my moter cuts out for 1 sec and then kicks back in. When i turn my boost down it will not cut out but i have no power. Do u think my tap is faulty??? And I have no power FC. Please help

I have limited knowledge about this sort of problem, but it could be your spark plug gap is too far. The new amount of airflow from your intercooler / increased boost might be effecting it.

Search for that, there has been a number of posts on it.

Cheers,

Dave

check all your hoseclamps to make sure they're tight, i had a similar problem and that was the cause

what boost are you running (on high boost)? Is your car stock? Does it seem like its hitting a limiter? Btw this is more a forced induction section issue.

Sorry but hoseclamps to what? the tap?

everywhere but in my case it was the cooler piping itself, right before the throttle body  it was tight enogh to not blow the hose off completely but loose enough so that once it made above say 5psi it would spring a leak, all boost would go out and the motor would cut out for a sec

You are hitting boost cut...

Either get an aftermarket ecu or an safc or similar piggyback ecu...

The car is basiclly cutting out due to an overboost error, the ecu is trying to save the engine...

So when you turn the boost down it does not cut out, and you have no power because you turned the boost down.... :(

Also search topics "Boost cut defender, fuel cut & boost cut"

There are many ways to combat it with out spending allot of money, but if you have a stock ecu id spend the money personally and buy a PFC straight away. Its not safe to run 12psi on a stock ecu with standard fuel maps...

i had this when i got my FMIC installed, but it was because of a hose that goes from the boost sensor to the BOV had melted shut(caused boost spiking so engine was retarding itself). replaced hose and problem is fixed.

it was also recommended that i check my plugs, coils, get a ecu or piggy back AFC and get a tune.

also if u got a K&N filter they can get oil on ur AFM which can cause issues so u may want to look up the tutorial on cleaning your AFM :(

Col has hit it on the head, this is why I asked what boost you were running and whether it feels like your cars hitting a limiter. I probably wouldn't be running in excess of 12psi all day anyway, especially not in this hot weather. Your car may be spiking as well, causing the ecu to boost cut but then when your boost falls back it allows it to go. Regardless, the only way to fix your problem is to do one of the things mentioned above, saving you money later will be to buy a pfc or safc at least.

Good Luck, Matt

you beat me to it col, sure sounds like a boost cut.

has someone mentioned fuel cut?

the ecu senses too much of fuel or air (boost) and cuts it. most likely when u just get it to full boost as it will spike.

PFC will fix.

i hit fuel cut on a CA18DET at 22psi.. well it was 22 as the guage went to 20psi :)

    • The 296mm rotors are the R33 turbo brakes. The 310mm rotors are the R34 turbo brakes. The calipers are nearly the same, but not. They're the same caliper but the R34 caliper has longer legs so that it sits out far enough to go over the rotor. The pads are the same for both. When you say, "I bough tsome EBC"....did you just mean pads? Or rotors? 310mm rotors fit under 17" wheels. There may be some wheels without enough clearance though. I can't fit my fingers between the barrel of my wheel and the "corners" of my R34 calipers, but there is plenty of room behind the spokes. This is on Enkei RPF1. You can fit 324mm rotors inside a 17" wheel, but I'd be willing to bet that it would be close to impossible with the Nissan/Sumitomo caliper (using an adapter, of course), because the Sumitomo caliper is fatter than the Brembo caliper that is supposed to go on the 324mm rotors.
    • Hi. Can someone tell me what brakes(and mainly WHERE) can i buy brakes on R34 GTT? I bought some EBC which SHOULD go on my car(i have GT but it has GTT brakes) but it does not fit, Brakes are "too" small(296mm) Are 310mm be good or? I have 17 inch wheel so no "big boys" but for me driving i just need one that fits and i can get here in EU/Czech.
    • Since winter isn't that harsh anymore in Poland, i will definetely drive it 365 days a year 馃槈. But if the snow hits i will try it for sure and let U know. Only swap i am planning to do is of course R34 GTR front 馃槏.
    • Hey. Very valuable information about pitwork, I will pay attention when buying any consumable parts 馃檹 As for the carpets - I got a handful of information from nengun, from which it appears that indeed the carpets for the driver's side are OEM. They are not able to show me any pictures due to the long chain of different sales entities but after I place the order, as soon as the goods arrive at the nengun warehouse from which they will send the shipment to me they can send me photos and if my purchase differs from OEM I can immediately return it / cancel the purchase. I think I will give it a try 馃槈. Of course i'll let you know what's what as soon as i get them P.s. I know the topic is not relevant to the thread, but both nengun and amayama have these SICK 馃槏 trunk room lamps available. Do you know anyone who ordered them? I need to have one in my car
