Ok people.

Some of you might of seen this before, but i have never heard of it so im just wanting to know if this stuff works or you have tried it for yourself.

This product claims to do the following.

Reduce engine heat load

Increase available horse power

Increase top end RPM

Improve engine response

Reduce turbo lag

Makes boost come on earlier.

And many other claims

They say its like having a high flow turbo and that they use it in V8 supercars and drag cars.

They say its the secret of high performance engines and you cant buy this product over the counter.

WHAT DO YOU THINK.

there was a huge thread about this about 2 years ago.

i have a bottle at home, just need some time on teh dyno to see if it changes anything

HINT : do not use it in a gearbox (it can be used) but it reduces the syncro's ability to slow the gearset down for a smooth engagement

why is it people are SO quick to crap on a product with high claims rather than accept it or even give it the benifit of the doubt

i read most of that thread and everyone that used it didnt say a bad thing about it

i think i might try it

just curious as to who is a QLD supplier (central queensland if possible)

RellikZephyr

Dont know anything about that product but personally I use Redline, used in everything from street cars to top fuelers...ask Jim Read, dont believe what the decals on his car say :)

Well it claims to do alot of good things for performance.

Sounds to good to be true????????????

This is a little back ground on additives, I dont claim that Roil Gold is the of this type additive but here we go.

Alot of oil additives contain chlorinated hydrocarbons which are very slippery, which is good. However, when you put these types of additives through a number of heat cycles the chlorine molecule can break off and become attached to water molecules and you've got hydrochloric acid...which is bad.

If you look around the interweb you will find a "company" called Neways, these guys sell cosmetics...and distrubute Roil Gold. Check out their offer of a ""business opportunity" :)

In the end if you need an additive in your oil maybe you need to buy better oil.

my next door neighbour is a seller of this product fro years and has used it in the Saabs for ages...funny enough they have gone though more GBs than any ppl I know. Considering their have low power outputs...I always thought there was somthing suss.

Do an oil or UOA test after 5000km and see how its performing...if it all; looks good then there do another at 10,000. if no dramas and the oil is still going strong then probably not doing any harm.

I dont belive subjective tests and personal opinions...generally they are biased esp if ur selling the product..and LOL and the Roil video they send out. I remember watching that in 2004 and picked so many issues up with them on that alone. But good effort for trying.

I have no opinion of this..I have no proof and the UAQ results...I would have to look at them again but they was a major flaw...cant remember what is was. Similar to that of the RP tests.

Intrresting to see how this sheers over time. Any reports form the guys using it from 2004?

RPM is limited by the ECU, so there is no way it can improve that. 100% bullshit.

Ultra slippery oil will gain you what, maybe a couple of percent? A high flow turbo it is not! Considering a modern roller bearing turbo, you would have to be running grease through it to make a difference in spooling RPM, or spooling speed. The air rushing through it is much more significant than the small contact patches with oil on them in the bearing.

You'd think that if it was so brilliant they would sell it wherever possible. Sell it to an oil company and get a commission off every oil bottle sold with your additive. That would be the smart way of going about something genuinely revolutionary.

No, I'll just stick to a good quality full synth oil thanks. Not worth the risk of pouring chlorine into my engine.

I've gone through some testing with Roil Gold ( bench testing and in car testing ) and IMO, don't use it in your engine, gearbox ( man or auto ) or diff. One place I've found that it works a treat though, is in the power steering.

We did the bench test ( as they did / do with the machine with the bearings and the torque wrench etc ) and the product does work in that situation & under those conditions ( we tried everything to fault it ).

We added the Roil Gold to the 1st test engine ( a reasonably healthy RB20DET ) and ran the car around for about 2 months and then put the engine through it's paces ( track time ) and #3 big end bearing let go on the 1st warm lap ( coincidence, maybe ? ). Our plan was to put it on the dyno but the track opportunity came up first so we took it.

We then added the Roil Gold to the 2nd engine ( another reasonably healthy RB20DET ) and ran it for about 6 weeks. We performed a leakdown and compression test pre and 6 weeks post the Roil and found that post gave us a drop in leakdown results but the comp test stayed the same. Put the car on the dyno and there was no measurable performance gain from pre Roil. The only thing we found that it had consistently increased was the spool down time of the turbo from engine shut-down ( 18 sec pre to 26 sec post Roil ). We decided not to invest any more time.

We added it to a couple of gearbox's and found that it actually resulted in more selection issues since the syncro's didn't want to mesh as well as with just 80W-90. Considering how it went in the gearbox's, we decided it would not be wise to add it to any LSD oil.

The only reason I know it works great in the power steering is because I've added it to many cars and it has shown benefits in the way of more free operation and noise reduction ( it completely silenced the near dead power steering pump bearings in my old man's Patrol ).

I've discussed my results with many people and have had all sorts of "if's" & "but's" and a few hostile accusations so don't take my opinions as gospel. As far as I'm concerned, try things out for "yourself" and you'll then get 1st hand results as opposed to what anyone else says. Roil Gold seems to work really well in the test conditions that are used to demonstrate the product but just didn't seem to follow through in some "other" conditions.

    • Hi from Canada, Both of my calipers are starting to fail. My car is a 2005 M35 Stagea ARX and I can't seem to find any parts or any cross reference caliper that would fit my car. Is there a company or a similar caliper that would fit and I could replace the OEM one. Or if anyone knows where I can find a new OEM. Any help is very appreciated. Let me know!
    • Maf is a question mark but TPS  I have set at 0.47, the fact that I’m getting proper voltage range out of it with the key on leads me to believe it’s functioning properly. I’m getting proper voltages on basically everything. I still need to look up voltage ranges for z32 maf and test that
    • Honestly no not at all, but it’s a very basic tune, it’s stock injectors q45 tps and z32 maf. Other than that it’s a completely stock base map. The file is from nistune and from my understanding if it was tune related I would be able to unplug maf and tps and it would still start even if it was a really shitty start. I have tried starting it with coolant temp, maf, and tps unplugged none of those 3 togethor or individually changes anything

    • What does it look like with highway driving? And yes, I had a similar thought as Duncan. It looks quite similar in my Stagea and I have made myself accept it as normal. Might have to look into it some day   Highway gets as low as 10l/100km on my end so I'm not as worried about it being a mechanical issue. More likely just the tune on the haltech.
