OHHHHHH spewing, i left my in car light on overnight, woke up and the f%$# is dead as, ive heard your not allowed to jump start skylines or any turbo because it may stuff up the turbo or somethin.........do i just remove the battery and charge it seperately or what, cheers guys. :laugh:

Disconect your battery , then charge it . If it's a a 33 , just be carefull of your rear speakers as they might atempt to pull the spaner towards them as you undo the terminals. A rubber insulated handle type is best.

Another thing , with the battery from a 33 , you dont need to open the cell caps .

By the way , since my gtr isnt going anywhere lately , I ve had to charge mine up . A good charger shouldn't cost more than $24.95.

I jump start My 32 GTR when ever its flat. AS LONG AS you have a GOOD set of jumper leads that have the surge protector in them all the battery terminal that you are connecting the leads to are clean and you connect them in the right sequence you will never have a problem. In saying correct sequence you connect your earth LAST and it is the FIRST lead you will take off after your car has started. NEVER disconnect the Positve first as thats where voltage spike can occur and poof goes the ecu if you are real unlucky. This is the same when you disconnect your battery when you want to remove it. I don't know where you heard you can't jump start turbo cars from, I can't say i've ever heard of that before. If the battery is dead flat you would be better off charging it over night, or unless you can go for a good long drive in the car after you jump start it. Couple hrs or more.

Its actually much healthier and better for the battery to charge on a charger if possible. If the car is flat and its not an emergency, charge it on an external charger all the way. Otherwise even if you can spare 10-20 minutes it is worth it. The excess current when a battery is dead flat can shorten the life of it and also it puts excessive strain on your alternator.

Technically you can spike and blow up your ECU, but as someone said it is more of an issue if you are a twit (not looking at anyone on here Vange) and short the battery by hooking the leads up wrong.

Best bet is to not put the negative on the battery terminal, but rather connect it to a ground point on your engine. For some reason this is less risky to your ECU (told to me by an RAA guy).

Actually it makes no difference to the ECU where you ground it. Its about not introducing a spark near the battery - theres a small but real chance the hydrogen gas from a charging battery can cause explosions when you disconnect the leads. That's why they always say disconnect the earth away from the battery first.

that's correct...

best to jump start it from under the bonnet....that's why that + terminal is there and connect earth - to your strut tower bolt.

also, your electronics have nothing to do with your turbo mate....not an issue for it. a 33 (turbo or not) is exactly the same as any other efi car out there.

    • By popular demand.. it was a coil. Got my hands on 1 new OEM coil, replaced with the one that made the less noise difference when I unplugged it while the car was running and started the car up. No stutter and the engine light was gone. I guess I’ll buy the other 5 they have lol
    • No, code 21 is very straightforward. It can only be the things described in that diagnostic flow. In fact it has no way of knowing that the spark plug resistance is out of spec.
    • Hi, SteveL Thank you very much for your reply, you seem to be the only person on the net who has come up with a definitive answer for which I am grateful. The "Leak" was more by way of wet bubbles when the pedal was depressed hard by a buddy while trying to gey a decent pedal when bleeding the system having fitted the rebuilt BM50 back in the car, which now makes perfect sense. A bit of a shame having just rebuilt my BM50, I did not touch the proportioning valve side of things, the BM50 was leaking from the primary piston seal and fluid was running down the the Brake booster hence the need to rebuild, I had never noticed any fluid leaking from that hole previously it only started when I refitted it to the car. The brake lines in the photo are "Kunifer" which is a Copper/Nickel alloy brake pipe, but are only the ones I use to bench bleed Master cylinders, they are perfectly legal to use on vehicles here in the UK, however the lines on the car are PVF coated steel. Thanks again for clearing this up for me, a purchase of a new BMC appears to be on the cards, I have been looking at various options in case my BM50 was not repairable and have looked at the HFM BM57 which I understand is manufactured in Australia.  
    • Well the install is officially done. Filled with fluid and bled it today, but didn't get a chance to take it on a test drive. I'll throw some final pics of the lines and whatnot but you can definitely install a DMAX rack in an R33 with pretty minor mods. I think the only other thing I had to do that isn't documented here is grind a bit of the larger banjo fitting to get it to clear since the banjos are grouped much tighter on the DMAX rack. Also the dust boots from a R33 do not fit either fyi, so if you end up doing this install for whatever reason you'll need to grab those too. One caveat with buying the S15 dust boots however is that the clamps are too small to fit on the R33 inner tie rod since they're much thicker so keep the old clamps around. The boots also twist a bit when adjusting toe but it's not a big deal. No issues or leaks so far, steering feels good and it looks like there's a bit more lock now than I had before. Getting an alignment on Saturday so I'll see how it feels then but seems like it'll be good to go
