Tuning Help

I have a 'CDE-9846E CD / MP3 Receiver' (im sure it shouldnt really matter what model, its this years) in my charade and was wondering what these numbers meant when i was tuning the treb n bass.

When you press the treb/bass button you can either turn it up or down, but i also realised when you press the buttons to change the songs ( >> ) is changes another setting, and numbers such as 80 100 120 140 come up.

Does anyone have any idea of what this means and how it changes the sound?

Crossover frequency? Or possibly some kind of bandpass?

I'm just guessing that it's some setting of a frequency.
