I am looking to buy an aftermarket ECU for my R32 GTR. I am running twin HKS 2530's, highflow injectors (not sure which ones), standard AFM's, and not sure what fuel pump. I am leaning towards a PowerFC D-Jetro as it eliminates the need for AFM but I have read that these are harder to tune and are better suited to cars that are generating very high power outputs.

The obvious alternative is a standard PowerFC with higher volume AFM (GCZ32 or Infinity Q45's). I have read on the forums that you can replace the standard AFM with a single Infinity Q45 AFM wired up so that the PowerFC sees two AFM's.

The price is going to be very similar either way so basically I am after the option that gives better all round driving package (including idling). Has anyone had experience either way? What are your thoughts?

Cheers

Nick

If you go the D-Jetro route you will have difficulty finding someone to tune it as its alot more labour intensive to do the mappings. Its also alot harder to get the idle and deceleration parts right.

Just get a standard one and run Z32 or RB20/25 AFM's.

Well heres a bargain for you if you choose to get Z32 AFM, ill sell mine with plug for $160. Halfway there. And yeh, unless you want to go to Sydney or beyond, then get a normal PFC. You will still get a massive improvment. I got about 100rwkw gain from a RB25DET and Pete at Autotech can tune them.

I have used both systems and they both have good and bad points.

If you want great driveability then go the a/f meter type as with the six throttles on a djetro style it is not so much the idle that plays up but more so the map at about 3000 as it uses the same load point at about 3000 at say 2in hg as it does at say 3000 and just coming on boost and so causes a stumble at certain throttle positions.

But if you are after the most power and can put up with this then it will make more power with the djetro.

As for tuning it is about the same to tune a djetro as it is a standard one and only cost me $50 more to have mine tuned but you will have to go to Sydney to get the best results

    • There was a great one on Victoria Rd in Gladesville too back in the day. I can only assume GTSBoy is thinking of the mill up on the wollondilly, no restaurant there any more but they have restored the original steam engine on site and run it every few months, have an annual steampunk festival etc @The Bogan, you came to the wrong town for restaurants. we have a few reasonable asian and indian options but the Paragon is as good as it gets otherwise. That brewery is apparently just opened, been meaning to give it a go some time. The Highlands have plenty of fancy options but I suspect you are more a hearty eater than fancy eater

    • Going by the intake & injectors I'd be guessing it's a DE, check the head casting number, should be 5L8 on a DET, 5L7 I think is the DE number.
