Ok..

Even though i can see it from 2 different points of view.. I will try and obide by the unwritten rules of the forums... this will be my main post for my car and its progress.. if it is updated.. (duh) the time date will be updated)

I will link a few posts that i have done already and the rest will be in here.

Ok here is the car pretty stock.. All i had done at that stage was get the tinting done + remove some dicky strips that were on the car.. ( yes the tinting is legal.. its just a kick ass grade that looks darker then what it is)

actually.. heres a pic of it without tinting and the strip of doom. (see attached)

Tinting + Clean up

After that i started on the performance a little.. I took the car to all star on the dyno day and got a very modest 123kw of power on stock boost.. it was a good number to start on.

21/02/07

I went out and bought a Apexi Power intake (from slidewise) that week and installed that badboy.. i noticed straight away that there was a little more juice under the hood.

After that i was tossing and turning on what to do next.. but since Aussieland is hotter then Japan i thought that a FMIC was a good option..

I got one of the JustJap FMIC's off the forums here and got mark to give me a hand "bolting" it on.

Was a 4 hour job but in the end i was happy with the work and was also happy i was getting my hands dirty by helping on the install..again mark... thanks :)

http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/in...howtopic=158803 << Front mount install topic

We kept the front bumper on there and did not cut the whole out in the middle.. so at this stage my car looks dead stock.. but when it winds up it dont.

So at this stage due to the FMIC i now have a 9psi boost

Also i used the how-to topic for maxing the boost on the stock solenoid ( as in to keep it a constant 7psi by permanent grouding of the ground wire).

Last night my handbrake boot gaiter arrived.. and i must say i am very happy with the quality... Noel have a look at it @ Cactus jacks as i know you were after one... put that on in 2 minutes.. didnt think a how-to post was needed for that as we already have some fantastic ones on the forums on how to remove the inside panels.

Finially put an exhaust on it, got a Rob Bliss one installed, got it from a fellow forum goer, Basicly it is the full system bar changing the turbo mani.

3" with a high flow cat.

Ill put it on the dyno again soon, id expect a few more bikkies for my dollar now.

Looking good. I just got a apexi pod from slide last week. Best price world wide.

Id agree with you about getting a exhaust next.

Also look at getting a turbotech manual boost control, even when set to stock boost i found it starts boosting slightly earlier.

Hi Dean

Yeah because the boost would go around 11-12psi and i only want 10 when i get the exhaust i am going to get an EBC..

And yeah..ill plug slidewise where i can.. pretty damn cheap prices they got there :)

    • I mean it's a bit late to say "This won't have any tangible effect and it is not worth spending more than about three seconds on it, please just enjoy the car" But I said it anyway. Does the pod actually get any airflow in that position behind a bumper like that?
    • Hey guys - apologies for digging this up. Has this website been shutdown or is the outage temporary?
    • So, went shopping at Just Jap for things that might work for the intake  After some trial fitting there I ended up with a 3" x 45° silicone bend, a 3" x 300mm alloy straight, and a humped joiner, some minor trimming will be required to shorten some of the stuff, but nothing that is beyond my "ham fisted" skills The guy at Just Jap was most helpful as we had all sorts of joiners,  bends and stuff out trial fitting  Laying it out above the stuff in there it seems everything will fit nicely, and looking at it, it is probably the way I should have been looking at doing it from the beginning, probably..... In the end it is a front bar off job anyway to remove the original stuff behind the front bar that is taking up the required realestate needed, so maybe a Thursday or Friday job And because I'm a hopeless consumer, I grabbed some new steel wheel nuts, the current ones are a spline drive type with a "security" socket, that somehow someone keeps misplacing, the new ones are a basic black steel 17mm hex socket In other news: I just did my "final" tax return, I am now officially a old retired veteran pensioner, and I'm milking the system for all it's worth,  life is good
    • I hadn't thought about the variable power steering assist. Presumably, it will always be the same level of assist as you get in an S14. The R32/3/4 are either helliishly heavy (at low speeds) if the solenoid is not powered at all, or hellishly too light (at high speed) if it is powered all the time. I presume that it is PWM controlled on those cars. I hadn't thought about the S cars not having variable assist. ugh. What crappy plebby cars they must be!
    • Hmm yeah that is a good point. It looks like it'll just bolt in with no real issue besides maybe the bushings being different. My other concern was that 2 pin plug that I assume is used in some way to control the rack solenoid depending on the speed signal from the ecu. The DMAX rack doesn't even have that plug though so, don't think it'll matter. Might just order the rack and see how it goes. Will update this when I figure something out
