See....i would think not....considering the 32 speedo drive is cable and not electronic.

Explanation of how it will read 300????

If it really does read 300 ill gladly purchase.

White for gtr thanks.

yes the R32 cluster is indeed cable driven. we are currently working on the recalibration procedure and should have a solution soon. once we have sorted that out I will be able to get a design drawn up and posted on the forum.

white with blue led. please answear above post thanks, also i have another question, is it possible the change the colour of the needle seperatly to the cluster lights, i want blue cluster with red needle like my apexi el2 gauge.

regardless of what colour LEDs you install in your cluster, the needle always illuminates red.

  • 2 weeks later...

wow just stumbled upon this!!

White for me & GTST.

Regarding the gtst's being mechanical... The signal is converted to an elec signal in the cluster and then sent to the ECU.

Is there anyway to modify that signal there or impossible?

A mob here in SA do the speedo ratio box's, apparently for ~$110 but will double check monday.

I'll be needing the ratio box anyhow so its no biggy for myself. :P

damn, i just stumbled upon this too, damnit :)

i saw the 33 one a while back they look awesome

I've got a GTS4 :S

so same dials as GTS-t except the left hand side has a torque splitter in place of the boost guage(like GTR)

are you able to do one for me in black?

let us know about the ratio box, what maximum speed is the ratio box designed for? that will determine the max speed on the speedometer for this kit.

You could also do round 260kph kits or 240kph maybe?

just add the numbers on after the 180? as I know my speedo goes way past the 180kph on the track

The bloke said the max speed isn't an issue. BUT he would need a speedo example as to make the box up as its not adjustable.

The other option is to have the speedo recalibrated which is $90.

He seemed to think the speedo box wouldn't work; unsure why as demagnetising or magnetising the speedo is the same as changing the cable speed. He wasn't all that clear but from where I am I can't see why it most definitely wont. Maybe a Morning thing. lol

I have a spare R32 GTST cluster here that I can send down. What the instrument guy would need to do would be to recalibrate the ratio so that at the current 180 km/h mark, the speed reading is 300 km/h (or 320 whichever is easier) and then I would get the speedometer face designed accordingly.

send me a PM if you are able to arrange this for us and I will send you the cluster.

I can get the speedo recalibrated at 300km/h or 320km/h depending on how you plan to space the numbers etc. He charges $90 to do so.

Thinking more about the ratio box. Its definitely not going to work. It will work with respect to displaying the correct speed on the dash with the new faces BUT it will slow the odometer and incorrectly report the amount of km's travelled.

So for our Mechanical R32 speedo's the ONLY way is to drop the cluster in to an instrument shop to be calibrated.

PM me if your still interested in doing this... Postage costs etc etc it may be worth while finding a local bloke?

well our local instrument shop who is very good had the cluster for a couple of weeks but couldnt find a practical / inexpensive solution to the problem.

I guess the way to go if we want to get this happening would be to leave it up to the individual to organise their own calibration with their local instrument shop? what do you think?

I'm fine with that.

As we come across instrument shops within our own states it would help full for all of us to post their details.

They appeared fairly certian that magnetising or demagnetising the speedo wouldn't affect the odometer. What are your thoughts? :S

guess we will just have to suck it and see.

now that the calibration is out of the way, I will get some design pics posted here in the next few days.

    • Any recommendations on a decent replacement manifold that doesnt break the bank or require additional mods for the stock turbo setup? I figure if I'm going to pull the manifold off anyway to fix the studs might as well replace it.
    • So I checked the turbo out today. Very minimum play at all just enough for the oil to take up when it's running. I did find an exhaust leak at the manifold. 1 stud all the way in the front is missing and the one all the way in the back is broken off. Front has visible signs of an exhaust leak. I'll fix that soon but that's not my problem still.  I also found that the nipple coming off the turbo had the hose capped off and a hose ran from the j-pipe by the bov going to the wastegate. I removed that hose and capped that nipple and put the turbo nipple hose back on the wastegate.  There was a ton of oil residue all through the charge side of the intercooler piping going to the throttle bodg. I'm thinking that's from the pcv. Doesn't seem to be coming from the turbo that was all clean on the pipes side.  Haven't had a chance to check fuel pressure yet, haven't had time been having to pull a lot of doubles at work. I did pick up some carb cleaner to clean the iacv but wanted to make sure I had a fresh gasket in case the old one rips when I pull it off.  I'm waiting on a MAF that was supposed to be here today but delayed to Monday. Have a double Monday and Friday and work all of next weekend so going to try to find some time in the middle of the week to try that out. Did about a 10m trip around the block today and towards the end the issues were coming back. Fingers crossed on this MAF but if not just going to throw a fuel pressure gauge in and see where I'm at.  Did notice today that I can definitely hear the injectors pulsing. Very audible clicking coming from them. Assuming that's normal? Should also mean CAS is functioning somewhat properly. After it warmed up when I started it the intermittent misfires came in again. Did start doing that before it was fully warmed up.
    • This morning I carefully reinstalled the manifold and started looking at a couple of things I need to do.  Heat wrap arrived sometime today so I popped into the shed with the missus dishwashing gloves and started wrapping the first half of the dump and the screamer/plumb back.  Once I do the second half I'll be able to final fit the turbo and exhaust up.  Also pulled the harness out today and started terminating it at the ECU end. A connector is done, just need to run the remaining wires that arent in the harness - 12v, gnd and couple I/O
    • A31 is pretty much the same thing without HiAIDS I mean CAS, no improvement lol. Not to late to send it.
    • Thanks for all the replies! I also wanted to ask if wheels that were fitted on Ford Falcons would fit the 350GTs as well? In the area I'm at there aren't that many options for secondhand wheels and new ones here are way out of my budget. From what I've seen, most of the wheels that are available that were fitted on Ford Falcons have an offset of +33 to +36, with a centre bore of 70.5mm whereas the stock 350GT's ones are 66mm, can't seem to find any hubcentric rings that fit that difference though.
