I read the other threads about this and tried splicing off the parker lights, problem is, the boost gauge stays lit even when the lights are switched to off. I tried all of the wires in that harness, 3 caused it to light up but each time it remains lit when turned off. What do I need to do to fix this?

edit: seems I have mistaken the headlight power for the parker lights, can someone tell me where the parker light circuit is in the r32s? I'm no good with wiring.

Why dont you have it running off the accessories wire from your stereo.

I have all my gauges powered off that. Unless you are mounting your pods on your pillar and have a problem running wires that far, I reckon thats the easiest place to run wires off.

yeah I couldnt find any extra wire that was a small enough diameter to run it that far, so I'm trying to connect it to the lights, I just don't know where the correct circuit is.

Goto bunnings, mitre 10, autobarn, supercheap auto or wherever and buy a 10m roll of small gauge electrical wire for $5. :D

the smallest gauge I could find was still a fair bit bigger than that of the gauge (apexi) and the people I asked said it would probably have too much resistance so I didnt buy any of it, do you think it would still work fine?

And yeah I got a multimeter but before I tried to use that to find a good wire, I connected it to the headlight circuit and it lit up so I thought that was the job done, I just didnt get why the gauge light wouldnt turn off when the headlight switch was off..

Cigarette lighter wires.

best thing for guages, has everything you want... and really easy to get to.

12V positive

Negative

12V Lights on wire

Agreed. Cigarette lighter wires are the easiest ones to use.

If you want the guage light to come on with ur stereo use the accessories wire from the stereo.

If you want the guage light to come on with ur ignition then use ur multi meter to find a wire that is 12v when ignition is on and 0 V when ignition is off.

In the same way if you want it to come on with ur parking lights find the wire in the cigarette lighter that is 0V when off and 12V when parker lights are switched on.

I use wire taps to connect up the wires. I find this the easiest way.

    • I don't know it is due to that. It could just be due to load on track being more than a dyno. But it would be nice to rule it out. We're talking a fraction of a second of pulling ~1 degree of timing. So it's not a lot, but I'd rather it be 0... Thicker oil isn't really a "bandaid" if it's oil that is going to run at 125C, is it? It will be thicker at 100 and thus at 125, where the 40 weight may not be as thick as one may like for that use. I already have a big pump that has been ported. They (They in this instance being the guy that built my heads) port them so they flow more at lower RPM but have a bypass spring that I believe is ~70psi. I have seen 70psi of oil pressure up top in the past, before I knew I had this leak. I have a 25 row oil cooler that takes up all the space in the driver side guard. It is interesting that GM themselves recommend 0-30 oil for their Vette applications. Unless you take it to the track where the official word is to put 20-50w oil in there, then take that back out after your track day is done and return to 0-30.
    • Nice, looks great. Nice work getting the factory parts also. Never know when you'll need them.
    • Thanks @jtha7 I will have a look around tomorrow but it is a prick of a spot. These are some photos i tried taking
    • I take it that the knock retard is from bearings tapping a little tune? Thicker oil is a fragile bandaid. You need a much bigger oil cooler and probably the bigger pump being discussed.
    • Hi @Chupapy i had several leaks from coolant pipes being corroded, i also had one leak on back of the head onto transmission. For me that leak was from the turbo water line. Follow the line to the back of the head The hose and metal pipe had perished these are the best pics I took of it at the time
