can i ask what for?

Anything that is engineered will probably be refused anyway. Regency and police are exempt from the law if they think anything goes against ADR laws -in their mind- then it is defectable and will not be allowed on the road. This is with a certificate and engineered product as well.

I know a friend spent over 2k getting suspension engineered that would pass aus wide ADR laws, and it was knocked back.

You're better off not even trying in SA. Its the law, and it sucks.

The only way I've found to get around emissions (well told by some one in vehicle standards) here in SA is to move to NSW. Get the car emissions tested and engineer signed off that it meets ADR's, get it all reg'd then move back here and transfer the rego.

Live 40km's away from the CBD so you are allowed to have a simple VIS check done by the local cop shop, be sure to bring all the associated documents from the modifications/engineer/emissions etc.

Live inside of the 40km's and you'll be off to regency for a vis + roadworth that often than not they pick up something.

Then the car will probably be defected and regency won't honor nsw's emissions testing engineering adr etc..

Who knows, they don't LMAO!

There is word that SA is in the process of sorting out emissions testing for petrol vehicles, I'm not going to hold my breath.

I havent done anythink yet but was planning on getting 20ich rims with coilovers and c/f bonnet, i wanted to do it the right way but now thinking i might just have to stick with 18's and risk the c/f bonnet. The reason i wanted to get engineered was that im spanding so much on this car and wanted to do it right.

ADELAIDE needs a mod plate

cf illegal due to the way it reacts during a crash. If u paint it u lose the wank factor of having one to start with. Its been covered here before.

Coilovers are illegal unless u weld them @ std height. No point having them as well, see SK's definition of why (unsuited to australian roads etc etc...)

Nice way to say hi :)

Can u then stand by your certificates saying that the police will not defect the car still, requiring a trip to regency to clear? Given the fact they only have to have a suspicion of a defect -without knowledge of the ADR laws that they are defecting for?

Are u saying that even though regency engineers can knock back certified safe cars that u will stand by your certifications, and take them to court to follow the matter up, even though they are expemt from any decisions made by them?

Please elaborate because i know a few hundered people here and on other foums would love to see you and your certs/plates get past the system that has raped many...

It either complies with state and federal legislation or it doesnt..

It is very black and white.... You will find it hard to find anyone that will write dodgy approvals..

But if it is a pass, it is a pass.. Simple..

U know that, we all know that. Explain why regency wont agree with it. Fact - people who have engineers certified mods on their cars in SA have been defected in the past.

Even if u have a mod plate and all mods comply regency can still refuse it on the road, which HAS happened.

Even if u STILL get it past them, there is nothing to stop police sending u back again.

Its all good to state it will pass if its legal, but we all know regency doesnt care, the police dont. It a revenue raising bitch, and u cant do shit except chase your tail.

Have a look at the law and theres a loop hole that states regency doesnt have to explain what they do. Dont make me dig it out. :P

Its all good to offer a cert plate, but in the end u will still end up back at regency.

So please offer an explanation as to why u think your certification would be different to anyone else, and if you would challenge regency as to why it was knocked back.

    • Not that I know from experience, but in theory you'd want your gate spring to be as close to target pressure as possible, so you'd go with the higher gate spring?
    • Before I commit to it as I already have the wastegate off the car, would you change it to the 9psi spring instead of the 12, or whack it back on now and try your suggestion?   Edit: Actually I might just swap the spring and see what the logs say after another few pulls, as we know it's still spiking without the Mac valve in the picture so I need more data without the Mac valve trying to combat the issue.
    • Sounds good Hmm suppose the main thing is, how much do you care about this car? The filler doesn't make for a very good water barrier lol. If there was a tiny little bit of rust forming now, that in 3 to 5 years time becomes obvious under the paint (starts to bubble up), would it bother you?
    • I already have the ability to datalog the voltage... what I can't do is correlate it to what the gauge is showing when I'm looking at the data at a later date. Or something like this. Except getting the oil to 125C+ involves me going 200+kmh at the track so you can imagine this is a little tricky unless I do something like note what the voltage is when I am at the top of 5th gear so I have a point to reference on. Drove car today. O2 still reading richer because hopefully not a leak instead of massive restriction I've introduced. Car really doesn't sound like a LS. It's quite strange. Pulled a bit of fuel out up top. This does potentially explain why my spark plugs looked like the car was running pretty over-rich. If I was tuning it to a ~12.7 which in reality was far richer than that in the past. It will be handy to have the dyno WB to compare my WB to to compare notes that's for sure. At this point I'm happy to just sit in the passenger seat and tune the thing given I've got about 7 million hours on the platform lol.
    • Yeah I understand you have to pay for an updated map or subscription service or something. But I can't even find a current map for Australia. My map is dated 2017, but didn't this car version still sell in Australia until 2021?   Also, just as an aside, the navigation system warns you of traffic incidences ahead.....why would they include that on a map they knew is not receiving live information. I am forever going to be warned of an incident that probably existed for 30 minutes 8 years ago.
