Arhhh looks like someones playing catchup :D

You have basiclly what I have now Noel, time to choose those cams so I can learn from your R&D... :D

Cause he is staying true to the cause :)

Cam selection has already been made Col. If I told you the specs I would have to kill you tho.

As for the 25 bottom end, well you are partly right. The near stock 25 I currently have impresses the sox off me given its cubic capacity. Just wanna see if i can get the right setup with the new engine to give me the punch I am looking for. If not. Onyabike 25 and welcome aboard 3.o litre.

Supporting mod selection such as cams, manifolds turbo, exhaust etc will be the key to putting the power where I want it. ( and that isnt where you have it) Time will tell if i am right or not.

So we have ported head, Hey noel would you please enlist and inform of the mods done to the head, ie valve springs used oversized valves? also Im interested i want to seem that damn flow sheet for the head post that biatch up. Got to know, have you yet sorted your traction and gb issues also clutch.

IE: Stronger clutch in need you going to ring Jim Berry? Or go a strong twin or triple plate clutch.

Gear Box: You going the giken internals or something stronger Getrag? That would help, You can always go the powerglide ;) if your strictly drag specing your car as that is the avenue you looking at taking?

Suspension: Please let me know what you going to choose here. CoilOvers, Whiteline kit?

Brakes: The fundamentals of stopping at the end of the track? Slotted, Upgraded calipers, Grex, Brembo etc. ?

DIFF: I dare say that A-lsd i dont think it will be the best of all to keep, well the life will be short lived im sure. 2 way? 1.5 Way?

Did you manage to get that oil cooler setup at all? or Dry Sump?

Oh you mentioned a surge tank setup i think :S Please inform us along the way on your descision here What size, you going 1 lift 2 feed to 1.8L or 3L surge setup? or bigger :)

Cams, The fundamental of flow, i say what the hell go the 272 ex/in 10.5 lift Its the way to the sky my friend.

Cheers

:) Adam

on a side note: i thought this thread was about noel's "goodbits" oh how wrong i was.

whats different betwwen either? only difference i see would be enlarging the oil galleries in the rb30 to spin it to 8k

are you the one building a 3 litre twin cam? or have i mistaken you for someone else?

by all means enlarge the oil galleries and rev the RB30 to 8k, i bet you'll get approximately 2,000rpm shy of that.

more mods are required to get the 3L bottom end to rev to than the 2.5L bottom end. there is a great deal of difference in approach and costs.

harmonics anyone?

One thing at a time Adam, Rome wasnt built in a day. But just for uou heres my wish list.

clutch will be a berry item. Gearbox will simply be stock with new bearings and cryod gear set to begin with. (we'll fight that tiger as it arises)

Brake setup will definitely be 33 gtr brembo setup. Helped andy do his and yeah. sweet brakes.

Suspension is a headache. Most coilover setups I have seen turn a nice riding car into a cart. Hate it. If sombody made an adjustable setup that started at factory settings and then upped the stiffness and rebound etc from there they would own it. Comfy near stock settings for day to day driving and some adjustability for track work would be nice.

Diff will be simply a 1.5 lsd

Oil cooler is on the way as we speak.

Sump is being sent next week for baffling, gates etc.

Cams wont be quite that radical mate. Looking for something with relatively high lift and short duration on the exhaust side and similar but with slightly more duration on the inlet.

q45 tb is on the way

q45 afm is already here.

Need a custom himmount exhaust manifold ( need probably not but want)

Splitfires this week

Pro comp power fc with hand controller. launch control and laptop port will be here in about 2 weeks time.

And the myriad of little things that arise when you undertake this type of build up. Adjusto cam gears, silicone and braided lines and hoses etc etc.

It wont happen overnight. I am a working man like most and can only do it as I can afford it.

Next step in the chain is to get the head assembled with the stiffer springs and new cams.

once the sump gets back I will fit a N1 oil pump and we will reassemble the long engine. cr is currently 8.7:1 but I may up that slightly to give a bit more squirt down low. (tuner can take care of timing to suit)

And I will have fuzzy dice for the mirror and a nodding dog for the rear parcel shelf. Thats about it Adam.

Noel man...I am running street style n1 Apexi's...and they are sweet. They are not rough at all...very nice ride i will be gettin them rebuilt if they start to fail thats how much i like em. If you want to see then i will take you for a ride.

Peace

Would love to Obi. To date i havnt seen a set i liked but i hadnt heard of these. We will definitely hook up at your convenience for a try out bloke. thanx a whole heap. ;)

What makes you think the A-LSD wont be strong enough? It is the same as a Vspec GTR it should handle anything Noel throws at it! Unless he turns really insane

Yeah they do that in a straight line...it aint broken its just how they work. Keeps you straight that way...They dont like full on burn outs but when you acutally lauch you will see it still leaves two stripes..and you wont fishtail like with other LSDs

BUT he wants to run some slicks on the sucka sometime so it'd be fairly dangerous at the strip if only 1 side is warm and the other isnt, hello concrete wall :)

Thats what you get when you use somthing designed for the pure science of the track as a caveman driving in a straight line mobile

shanef has a dry sump...but noel ...i like the way he is going response will still be awesome...maybe you might even think about putting twins on it? get some serious response from small ball bearings.

A properly sized single shouldnt have any less response than twins

Times 2. I thought about twins briefly. Too many hassles in other areas tho.

Heres a question for those in the know. Is the power fc series specific. Meaning, will a pfc for a 33 gtst work on a series 1 and 2.

Same for S1 and S2 Noel

    • What Duncan said sounds right. Also, it looks like they only have the driver's mat. Not the rest. Because looking at the diagram: KG4911 is just the mat for the driver. KG4900 is the full set if I'm not mistaken and discontinued.   But, it looks like they may still have the full set for the manual S2. Might be worth checking for the other models as well as they seem slightly different. https://www.amayama.com/en/genuine-catalogs/epc/nissan-japan/stagea/wgnc34/6649-rb25det/misc/G49 Man, I'm tempted.
    • I dunno about that as a blanket statement. Pitwork is Nissan's "Nissan genuine" thing, and for stuff like timing belts, I have found them to be excellent. Of course, for things like oil filters, you always use proper trusted brands anyway, not whatever the OEM has taken to using.
    • Ahhhh... If you were putting 12V to the led in there, that's likely made it very unhappy. Chances are how you put power, was 12V across an LED that's meant to only have about 20mA through it at peak, and a forward voltage of about 1.8 to 2.4 volts. That circuit is likely only a 3V3 circuit, and will have a resistor in series with the led too. That's my guesstimate on that light, without having touched one.
    • Another vote for installing them and see how you go.  I mean, you already own them, why would you not fit them?
    • I have had too many of those over the years, my cars have a toolkit or at minimum a cheapy multi tool thing because its too easy to be snookered by some stupid plastic clip that stops you checking the battery terminal isn't loose.
