Thanks for that usefull information mate, in regards to my situation, should i head down the to blokes station and basically tell him that its garbage and explain why? in the section on my defect notice for 'station' he wrote STTF, does that mean he actually doesn't have a station? perhaps i should write a letter to them

STTF i think are out of head office brisbane. they patrol all over qld.

State Traffic Task Force

There is an office at Boondal and they do travel all over the state.

If you send a letter to them this is what will happen.

They will read it, all have a good laugh and send one back to you saying "The ticket will still stand."

my car arrived 5 years ago with NO metal in the front bar area. What the heck are guys like me supposed to do?

Man i dislike coppers.. and those pencil heads who think they know ALL and make the rules which condemn us...

If the car is mod plated now, then it should stand down the track reguardless of the rules. it will have an engineers approval.

Thats what i'm gonna do.. Thanks for the heads up! See how it pans out.

Cheers

On my last car i pulled the front bumper rio out to fit the veftex front bar and intercooler, never got round to putting it back on but it got complied like that, it depends if they pick up on it when complying the car as it shouldnt be passed without it. STTF will still fine you no matter what the circumstances

lol you can sell teh car with the defect, aslong as you get a roady and transfer the car into his name, then it is cleared as far as i know, ask nismo_boy :P

btw- compliance for 32's did require a rear lamp unless under the 15yr rule, although some workshops have neglected to do this when complying cars among other things :(

Thats correct.

My car was under defect and required to be cleared at the police station. As I was selling/sold the car... I neglected to tell the new owner. I still got a dodgy RWC, transfered the car into the new owners name, and bingo cleared.

It's like when your car has been impounded for hooning, the current owner may have had the car impounded but once it changes names the slate is cleaned and you start fresh.

So you're saying if your car was impounded for hooning, all you need to do is change of ownership to your mate for instance and they'll release the car?????

I think Josh means, if your cars impounded and you sell it....the new owner starts fresh with that car...ie. next time that car is caught for a "hoon" offence it's the first time.

Otherwise I think he means you start fresh if you sell the car...but I would have thought they'd base the law on the amount of times the drivers been caught "hooning" not the car.

No.

Example:

I'm selling a car that had been impounded TWICE. One more time and they have it for keeps. You buy my car with a current RWC and transfer it into your name, you now legally own the car.

The amount of times the car has been impounded is now reset as it's owned by another person: EG, if you got done for hooning and the Police impounded your car although its technically the cars third time, it's only counted as it's first as its under new ownership, therefore it wont be taken for keeps.

I've always wondered what happens for eg. If I've been caught "hooning (rofl)" twice...cars been impounded..then we go out in someone else's car and I am driving I decide to "hoon" who's car do they take?? Do they come round and get mine hahahaha?

They take the car the driver was being a hoon in.

They take the car the driver was being a hoon in.

bit of an issue if they take a car registered to someone else and confiscate it permanetly. For eg. I borrow your car, go down the shops, do a skid or something classified as "hooning" your car gets permanetly confiscated....would be very interesting!!

It would be interesting indeed if and when the matter went to court.

    • Ha, well, it's been.... a bit of a journey. Things have taken much longer than I'd hoped. I'll probably put up a thread at some stage. Hopefully soon. The car's not done any kms since my update in June though, put it that way.
    • Here's the chart for fuel pressure vs. current draw, assuming your base fuel pressure is 3 bar and you run like 0.5bar boost on WOT, you should only momentarily hit 9amps here and there. (Ignore my prev post, I cannot read a chart these days it seems)
    • Those comp test results are not hideous. Whether they are accurate or not (ie, when that comp tester says 140 psi, is the real pressure120, 140 or 160?) is unknown to us. The state of the battery used to crank it over is unknown, etc etc. Many people around here would say that the absolute values and the spread are perfectly fine to just add boost and keep going. I personally would be happier with a narrower spread than that, but even the diff between 125 and 145 is not terrible. That one cylinder at 125 though, has probably copped some damage relative to the others. You should inspect the valves seeing as you've got it open. Do you know how to measure installed ring gaps? That, and an inspection of the rings themselves, is how you will determine whether they need to be replaced. If you're not good to do these things, take the block and the pistons and rings to a shop that is, and ask them for the go/no-go on them. Do the bores need a hone at all? If so, you might well be justified in getting some different pistons in order to get away from the ring supply problem. Whether you're happy to spend a lot more money right now, on more gear, rather than less money, but an amount that looks stupid given that you will only get a handful of rings in exchange for that money, is for you to decide.
    • also possibly backed up to my filler and shat down it! 🤣
    • Ok so i would love some advice here please, i purchased an R33 a few months back and its had a few mods done to the engine, its an RB25det running a Master ECU, 1200cc injectors, bigger turbo, oil cooler, oil filter relocation kit, Spool H-beam rods, acl/ross pistons. When i removed the motor from the vehicle (as its getting a respray) i thought i would compression test it and these are the following results. Cylinder 1-145psi, Cylinder 2-143psi, Cylinder 3-125psi, Cylinder 4-145psi, Cylinder 5-140psi, Cylinder 6-135psi this test was done with the motor on the ground and powering up the starter motor. I dropped the sump and found broken oil squirters on cylinder 3,5 and 6. I was told my rings are probably worn so i stripped the motor completely to get a new set of rings for it. The trouble is no one has these rings anywhere and they have to be custom made by Ross over in the states and will cost about $600+$200 delivery. My question is how can i tell if my rings are at fault and if they are still ok and is this price ok for a set of rings?
