the car i'm about to buy has no alarm/immobiliser/keyless entry and also had a sub/amp that was taken out, so the sound system doesn't work, but all the wiring for a sub and amp is still there.

-how much can i get a alarm system for? how much is install? I want the cheapest option, as long as it works well, I don't care about any extra features etc.. i see some systems for under $100 on ebay.. do these cheap ones do the job or are they plagued with issues?

-would it be quick and easy to wire the sound system back up to work like stock without the sub/amp or would i be better off just buying a cheap amp and hooking it up to the existing wires?

haha, wasnt till i read the title that i finally understand why people call it ICE. Thought it was just some gang banging grill wearing pimp slang but it actually has a meaning, good show.

On topic, dont be stingy when it comes to protecting your car, skylines are targeted and the only thing stopping some arsehole from stealing it is your alarm. Also decking your car out with ICE (haha) just attracts more attention from people looking to steal it. Its like car insurance, you dont really need it until something bad happens, better to have it and be safe then regret it when your car is gone with nothing to show for it. Do a search, theres a lot of people who have their skylines taken because they had the same idea of cheap/ no alarm because its not really necessary and they will all tell you the same thing

yeah its important not to encourage thieves by having a simple interior and using a clublock etc.

but the sad fact is that regardless of your alarm system a professional can steal pretty much any car. i'm fairly sure theres no alarm that can't be bypassed in a fairly short period of time, and even if such a thing exists the car can still be towed.

the guys who steal cars and strip them can steal pretty much anything that interests them.. random kids trying to steal cars for a joy ride might be discouraged by an alarm but 90% of these cars will turn up again anyway if they are stolen.. therefore i would rather just have a ADR alarm purely so im covered by insurance :P
