Loud Thud When Engaging Reverse

As the topic title says, i heard a really loud thud when pulling the auto outta park into reverse. Did it twice in a row, then i couldnt make it do it again (which is prob a good thing).

Did a bit of a search and couldnt really find anything on this at all.

The noise itself sounds like it was actually come the rear half of the car. It pulled straight into reverse, there was no slippage, but i am not ruling out a slipping reverse clutch band. Has me hood winked as to what it is, and i know stuff like this doesnt just go away.

Any help or any ideas as to what i should have a look at would be appreciated.

Parked flat.

I moved it back and forth a number of time this mornin before leaving for work and then leaving for home and couldnt fault it...

Propeller shaft maybe? There's usually a little bit of play in them. I've heard them make clunking sounds before. If you get underneath your car and grab hold of it, you should be able to move back and forth.

I think it just moved after park was engaged but before the handbrake. Seems normal.
