I am hoping someone might be able to help me find the problem with my car after an SAFC install.. SAFC has been initialised and is fully untuned so I expect the car to run as per normal.

After the install now the car runs rough, exactly the same feeling as when the air flow meter is disconnected..

Here is what I did

Wired in safc as per standard (did another one a few days earlier one another car and all was good there)

When i got to air flow wire i started getting confused and hooked up the wrong wire. I basically hooked up the air flow gound wire to the safc in and out

and then i gounded the safc on the engine temp wire which is one down from there.. So i stuffed up here initially as i counted one too many wires towards the center of the ecu.. I realised this problem before going too much further. I did not start the car like this but i did hit ignition and went into safc settings.

Ok after rectifying the above wiring issue i now started the car after setting up the safc as follows

cylinders 6

throttle rising

hot wire - Here i have tried 1-1 and 4-4 and get the same result.

i have been though and checked all the wiring.

I do a sensor check on the safc and i get throttle responce.. I get .200 volts with ignition switched to on on air input 1.. air input one sees more voltage when car is running. So by this it looks as though the a/f meter is sending voltage to the ecu..

Now... Is it possible i fried the air flow meter when i wired the thing up ass about face?

Or is there something missing in the safc setup? I go into etc menu, then sensor type > hotwire > 1-1 (or 4-4) and then back out of here. does this mean it is selected?

any other ideas or things to check or comments would be appreciated..

I am pretty confident on my wiring and have wired it up as per the safc (blue screen) manual from apexi which states the ground wire should go next to the air flow wire... on the ecu pin out this wire says air flow meter ground.

Completely disconnect the safc all together, if the car runs fine the safc is stuffed. If the car doesn't idle normally with safc removed I'd say the stock ecu is stuffed.

Do all the basic checks ie properly insulated wires, pin are not bent or disconnected, open the ecu check for fried electrics. I really think it'll be the stock ecu as you've probably shorted something when you turned the ignition with the incorrect wiring.

I had the similiar problems when my mechanic installed mine. I increased the aircorrection settings to 16% and it seem to cure the problem and the hotwires were set wrong. It was set from 1-1, when its supposed to be 3-3. After these settings, im seeing if it starts normally tommorow on a cold start.

    • If the house has ever been sold before too, they have photos from that etc.
    • I used to do that, but then I got savvy. The benefits of having your phone photos geotagged outweigh the negatives. I just don't publish any photo straight off the phone/out of the gallery/off google photos, etc. If I'm going to use a photo, other than for SMSing to fam, I will always open it on the computer, copy it/otherwise edit it and save down without the original metadata, before using it. For example, posting photos of my engine bay into a thread on here, to show someone a plug or something - I will just screen-cap the section I want to use and paste that section direct from the clipboard into the post. No metadata goes along with.
    • Yes, so it won't work for places with no photos on the net. I would have said that there are no photos of the inside of my house on the net, but....then I realised that my kids' parties would have had bazzillions of photos of the living spaces, kitchen etc put on insta and other shitmedia. So... you can see how insidious it is.
    • Whomever is stalking me will need to deal with a few of these, so my safety is "assured"
    • It's not any meta data. They have scraped images from everywhere, and then use AI to compare your photo to other photos and work out where you are.
