hey guys

i got a 1990 r32 gtst and have just had the slave and master cylinder for the clutch re-sealed or wateva u call it. i had this done cos the car was shuddering getting into gear....it fixed the problem.

BUT now i've noticed drops forming on the garage floor under the car. The engine under tray is fairly damp with fluid to. i have cought some of the drips and they are oil drips and are a fairly clear fluid....and the flutch fluid that was put in was also clear...

i have noticed that in the clutch resiovoir in the engine bay it is filled to about 2-3mm over the max line....so do u think the drips are from this???

the drips are dropping on the passenger side of the car so not directly under the clutch resoivoir at all....got me stumped!!

is some seal maybe bust around the box area or something???

info here would be very much appreciated as i havent had any drips before

i'll stop writing now..hehe

Thanks SECUR1TY for the idea but i just checked the power steering resiovoir and its sitting right on half way on the dipstick which to me seems quite healthy ....for a skyline haha.

any other ideas

i have noticed that there is a bit of an oily surface on top of i what i think is the clutch assembly. like if u look into the engine bay from the passnger side ...at the back under the engine block...this surface is always oily even when i clean it with a rag a new layer forms after driving...

hmmmm.... just wondering if its leaking down from here somewhere onto the drip try.

well the only other thing i can think of that would cause oil to build up there is:

- the cam cover gaskets - you'll need to take the cam covers off and replace the gaskets and half moons.

- rear main seal - gearbox off, rear main seal housing off, replace rear main seal.

- gearbox - nfi, just an idea.

dont just check the reservoir. get under the car and check the actual line leading from it as well as the PS pump.

In my 32 it looked like a rear main as the oil was dripping from the bottm of the gear box, but it was really running down the side of the motor/box and dripping off the lowest part.

I replaced the cam covers and half moons at the back (next to the fire wall) and problem solved.

thanks for the info mate

yeh its no so much dripping from directly under the rear main seal housing tho. so it seams to be dripping and then running down to fall our of the lowest point of the under tray (catch tray), but perhaps yeh it could be the cam covers and half moons and its just running down to this point

one thing is tho that the oil seems pretty clear and thin...where as i would of thought oil coming out of the cam covers would of been more black and thicker...

just as a note how much did u pay do get ur cam covers and half moons done the??

    • Haha, i kow right? Could have bought so many cars for the same amount of money (or less) but driving Unicorn gives you at least +1mln to style 😅. Like wise man said "life's to short to drink cheap wine and drive boring cars" 😉
    • Newbie here, proud owner of an Autech 260RS. I'm on the hunt for wiring diagrams specific to the 260RS, particularly S1. I've ran my eyes through R33, R34 Diagrams, there are some similarities, however continue to find incorrect wire colours and pins on connectors in the 33,34 diagrams.   I was hoping someone could point me in the right direction? I'd be happy to pay for the originals in Japanese. I can translate them, at least they would be accurate.   Any help please would be greatly appreciated, never heard an RB26DETT before let alone driven one, and I've got a spaghetti monster of goodness to sort out.   Cheers Benny
    • Hey all  im wondering if you can help me please I have put a rb20 box in my r34 gtt as my auto packed up and a friend had a spare box I know it’s not ideal but it will get me up and running for now. we have done the conversation and everything is working great but my Speedo we got a s13 speed sensor but my Speedo reads double now and I bought a speed converter but still not having any luck.  so I thought I’ll reach out and pick your brains  any help would be appreciated please as I wanna drive my car again
    • Drain it. I got official Matic D but you can get whatever is listed as Matic D compatible.
    • Thanks guys,  Yeah I should at least have them dynoed, at least then I know what I've got as a starting point.  The springs on these are hard as rocks. I vaguely remember Russman saying he was going to sell the shocks to me with the rocks fitted, as he was keeping the softer springs for his new setup.  I didn't click at the time but of course that was to let me know the shock/spring wouldn't be matched.  I also remember pricing up new springs around 2014-15, but, house, money etc. it never happened. So that was another reason to have them rebuilt. I have rebuilt the forks on many motorcycles so I think I could handle the seals on these easily enough, but getting the valving right would be a rabbit hole I cbf exploring.  Duncan, interesting to hear RP was tuning these back then. I might give them a call.  In the mean time I have been busy fitting sway bars. The Whiteline rear sway bar I purchased 15 years ago finally got fitted, along with the Whiteline front bar that showed up last week. Just waiting on new links for the front sway bar to finish that off.  And my spare set of advan AVS VS5's should be back from the powder coaters in a Pearl White finish sometime this week, with a set of Hankook RS4's lined up for fitting.  And then I just have all the suspension bushes to do. A comprehensive kit is on the way... Lots to do before the Ararat hill climb. Cheers guys 🍻
