I have a Nismo catback with EVC on it.

Just wondering.

Is this 3" piping?

How much power is this good for?

If it is similar to aftermarket exhausts in terms of performance, was thinking of just getting a dump pipe instead of the whole exhaust.

Tried a search but couldn't find much info..

the sound is just right.

but i am going to chase some more power soon and i was wondering if the exhaust would be th weakest link.

If it isn't, i'll most likely get a front + dump pipe.

If it restricts power...then i'll get the whole system.

Measure up the size of the exhaust..give some specs on here..then you will get some more info.

Without sizes and specs..it is hard to tell you if it is good for further power upgrades or restrictive

Take care

I had the nismo cat-back aswell, the one that sways nissan sports muffler on the tip & has the sport & silent switch in the cabin.

Pretty sure the piping is 2.5" from memory, It's still in my garage so I'll have a look later

There will be more of a restriction from the dump & engine pipe through to the cat more than the cat back section.

I now have a full 3" system on mine & it's not that much louder than the nismo one on idle, just a deeper note. Absolutely growls when accelerating.

I have a 3" split dump pipe bolted to a 3" JIC magic engine pipe, an X-force hi-flow cat & the HKS hi-power silent cat back.

I noticed a slight pick-up in mid range grunt, but it's the top end where I really noticed the change, it didn't feel as 'choked' as before.

I have a 3inch nismo catback and I dont see how its different from the other aftermarket performance exhaust. I am still running on the stock dump and front pipe and hence wouldnt be able tell the diff a full exhaust makes..

Ok

Here is your answer..BANG FOR BUCKS

Turbo...computer..electronic boost controller .dumps..tune

If you have these

then new cat 3"Metal(free flow type),Z32 AFM,3 inch exhaust cat back.

How much power are you chasing?....And what Mods do you have?

Think of the World of Turbo's as a World of compressed air...the more you force through the better the power results....

So..Pods...New AFM...Z32 in your case..Larger front mount Inter-cooler,Better turbo,dumps,front pipe,free flow cat,exhaust..non restrictive.

(A QUOTE BRUCE LEE WOULD HAVE BEEN PROUD OF)

Then,fuel supply,fuel delivery(injectors)...tune.

Which part are you up to?

i am up to the stage you first mentioned.

Looking at a new turbo (HKS GTRS or Gt2835proS)

HPI Dump + Split front pipe

PFC

550cc Nismo injectors + Tomei/Nismo fuel Pump

Z32 AFm

Sard 200cell 3" CAT

Maybe fuel reg

Already have FMIC + POD + EBC

Just need to know if i need to replace the catback section.

How do i measure the piping? Is it from the outside end to the other side(outside)? Or do i have to measure the internal diameter?

If its not 3 inch..........change it.....that is all.

    • I can see between the water jacket and cyl 3 there wasn't a hard line of combustion gas. It certainly appears that the issue is coming from there. Yes, checked the tension. All at 100ft lbs where I set them 5 years ago. These blocks can crack but generally when they have been over bored. Mine is only 0.5mm oversize at 89.5mm. They break between cylinders around the 91mm mark. No sign of that with mine. My gut feeling is the head gasket lifted a while back when the studs stretched and i bandaided it by retorquing the studs. It's finally let go.

    • So, version 4 intake is on its way I was looking at these a while ago but at around $200 or more it was a little pricey for something that might not work, but, I had it in my watch list, but, I got a message saying it was on special, and I had a code thingie to use, it eventually came in at $120 delivered, so BAM, BUY NOW.....LOL I'll need to have a look when it arrives but I feel it will "look" better than what I currently have, as it comes with a PCV fitting, so I will be able to get rid of the alloy pipe that goes to the throttle body with the PCV fitting  Well, that's what the voices in my head are telling me  Oh, and this happened today Yeap, it was a Trojan, and it was cheap, so I headed back to the hardware store and actually spent a little bit more on a heavy duty,  one that was actually recommended by a plumber mate, a Cyclone one with a fibreglass handle that is actually rated for clay The broken shovel will eventually be "modified" into a short handle shovel
