Its bad when people have to learn the hard way,but atleast then you wont follow the same path.

Like you im a huge car nut aswell as most people on this forum. But if you cant afford it,there is no point going to the credit cards for money.

Credit card = evil (if you dont use them properly)

Better off not owning one(like me)

My advise would be to draw up a budget:

1.What you earn.

2.What you need to live(living expenses)

3.Work out how much you can afford to pay per week on your debts.

4.Try and refinance so you can put all your debts into one and have one repayment.

Car will have to be put on hold until these things get worked out.

There is plenty of time to play with cars(being only 19)

When i was 19 i owned a 1972 VW super bug.Got me from AtoB.

Then EB ford on LPG.

Then EF ford(modified)

But all the time waiting for the chance to own my dream car.And now i have it.

It all takes time so dont worry about it too much you will get there in the end.

quite easy thing to do dude. stop spending on your car until you can actually afford it!!! im only 19 aswell ive got a loan and credit card etc and im an apprentice and live with my girl but i never miss a payment!!

ive brought heaps of things for my car but always made sure it never hampers on my payments.

just use your head. dont buy something without thinking it through.............

I was in this exact situation 3 years ago. I sold my modded cefiro and bought a cheap car for $5000. drove it for 2 years and saved every single cent. paid off my 10G loan and saved another few grand. shold the shitter and bought a clean cheap R32 cash....

no I save 2 grand every month. there is a few $$$ left over after living expenses to sepend on the car still. so it can be done. I live like a pauper, but a pauper with savings and a modified skyline

and I never worry about money anymore

you can do it mate, it just takes a little discipline :(

goodluck!

Hang in there dude, money is just a tool, and you need to learn how to use this tool. I'm interested in why you want to spend big $$$ on a car to take on the track. I always wanted to get on the track soooo bad, and I did it as soon as I could, but I did it in a pretty crappy, but fun car ($1800.00 Twin Cam Corolla) Had a ball, learnt heaps and didn't cost me more than a few of hundred dollars total in preparation. I reckon what's actually brought you undone is not the fact you want to get on the track, but you were unrealistic about what you needed to get there. Get on top of your debts, then work out where you want to go with motorsport/your car and how you are going to get there, break that up into small, achievable steps, and you'll get there eventually.

keep your chin up dude :D

I know the feeling, i've had just over 10 cars in the past 2 years, and recently bought a house(i bought it for the garage and because the missus needed a place to live and I didn't want to go flatting)

But yeah, don't get a house, you'll have even less money,

What do you do at the moment?

Get a higher paying job, there are heaps going round the place :0 or get a weekend job to match the job you have

Don't worry about only 426 in the bank, i'm - $1500 on credit card + -260k on the mortgage :S but i'm not worried, money is only an object and I keep paying it every month anyway.

I think you should just take things easy, pay back the money in the bank before you do anything else

To keep you busy, do the free stuff, I can't afford to do anything now, I work at a uni, so luckily I've got access to a few things, I got a few computer parts off a colleague and I'm getting some dry ice to strip my sound deadener out...

That'll keep me busy for a few weeks at least, have you got a buffer and some polish? if not get a chamois and a buffing rag and spend a few days cleaning your car :D spend a few hours on each panel and you'll love the look, it's cheap to free as well if you already have the things

A friend said to me "Money is only an issue if you make it one"

I had to get realistic recently and sell my beloved 32gts4, and the subaru, and I am so much less stressed! I havnt owned a car for 3 months now and IT SUX, but at least I have money coming in to pay off a few leftover debts, pay the morgage, and put a few dollars aside for my latest project - building a clubman

hey man

cars are excellent, but they shouldn't take priority in your life (unless ur in the car/racing industry)

i say take a break from all this car business and pay ur debt off slowly. i dunno ur financial situation so it could take 6 months or maybe 2 years. but yeh every1 else is right, the track isn't going to close tomorrow.

u don't wanna sacrifice everything else that's important to u in ur life for ur skyline.

plus cars should be bringing u happiness, not gettin u all depressed. maybe just right now isn't the time.

good luck wiv everythin.

been there done that, when i moved from qld to nsw, i was out of work for 3 months with 2 skylines 30k+ in debt and no income in 3 months i was well over 4k behind in my repayments, just as soon as i was earning money again worked alot of o/t and pumped it all into my loan for liek 2 months got back infront of the repayments, a year and a bit later i was 8k in front, now ive gotten rid of that loan and brought more cars :P and once again infront, i think u learn from the first time!! i think i payed over 1g in excess charges for not being able to pay

My next few days will be spent making sure timing is good, it was running fine before doing the ECU and DBW swap, but want to verify.  I'll also probably swap in the new injectors I bought as well as a walbro 255 pump.
    • It would be different if the sealant hadn't started to peel up with gaps in the glue about ~6cm and bigger in some areas. I would much prefer not having to do the work take them off the car . However, the filler the owner put in the roof rack mount cavities has shrunk and begun to crack on the rail delete panels. I cant trust that to hold off moisture ingress especially where I live. Not only that but I have faded paint on as well as on either side of these panels, so they would need to come off to give the roofline a proper respray. My goal is to get in there and put a healthy amount of epoxy instead of panel filler/bog and potentially skin with carbon fiber. I have 2 spare rolls from an old motorcycle fairing project from a few years back and I think it'd be a nice touch on a black stag.  I've seen some threads where people replace their roof rack delete with a welded in sheet metal part. But has anyone re-worked the roof rails themselves? It seems like there is a lot of volume there to add in some threads and maybe a keyway for a quick(er) release roof rack system. Not afraid to mill something out if I have to. It would be cool to have a cross bar only setup. That way I can keep the sleek roofline that would accept a couple bolts to gain back that extra utility  3D print some snazzy covers to hide the threaded section to be thorough and keep things covered when not using the rack.
    • Probably not. A workshop grade scantool is my go to for proper Consult interrogation. Any workshop grade tool should do it. Just go to a workshop.
    • In my head it does make sense to be a fuel problem since that is what I touched when cleaning the system. When I was testing with the fuel pressure gauge, the pressure was constantly 2.5 bar with the FPR vacuum removed. When stalling, the pressure was going up to 3.0 bar (which is how it should be on ignition).
    • ECUtalk pages don't mention they support the ABS computer (consult port has more than one CAN), so you might just need a different scan tool. But, I would expect ABS is a different light to the brake warning/handbrake light, do you see an ABS light come on for a few seconds when you turn the key from ACC to IGN? But since you said: I'd have a look at the ABS sensors in the rear hubs to make sure they are not damaged, disconnected etc.
