Provided a mate doesn't have his b'day that wkend I should be there.

How's the season been for the Celica so far? & what happened to race 4 at Sandown last month?

Yeh the season has been going good and bad.......

We've rebuilt the engine, turbo and diff! Gearbox to go........ :laughing-smiley-014:

Yeh race 4 at Sandown we didn't start, we blew the diff on the last lap of race 3 and limped it over the line!

Tony blew his PPG box in race 4 also, so we were on the trailor early and ready for a drive back to SA!

We've had quite a few things we've needed to iron out over this year, as it's a build up from scratch! We've run Karts for 5+ years and was now the time to build the car. She should be alot better this round as we have now taken out the bump stops(dickheads for not remembering) put the flares on and widen the track by 20mm a corner. We still need to put a boot spoiler on as going thru the kink out the back of Mallala at 200+kmh in a 80's Celica can be a bit scetchy.

Mate I can't remember of hand what it was last round, but it could be $10, I'd say worst case $20!

Nick, sounds like a plan mate, I wouldn't give up a interstate trip tho, thats for sure!

I'm slowly getting more involved with the Intermarque boys both the series and a few of the teams. However the bank balance doesn't help with all the rounds on the Eastern Seaboard. So more than likely out at Mallala instead :D and :)

Yeh tell me about it, I help out 2 mates, 1 in IPRA at a state level + interstate once a year! and my other mate runs a Saloon Car at national level, so that sees me heading east for those rounds, ALOT of fun the old race weekends! Havn't seen much of the AMRS rounds as the Saloons are following The Nationals series!

ok, the salons are always a good series to be involved with, most of the guys are great. Thankfully my mates run a few Porsches between them so there is always work to be done, and when they aren't racing they are the ones running the series so they have said they would like some help to do paperwork, tyre allocation ect. But as you would know time and money aren't the easiest things to arrange. Especially money -- i have had my car for nearly 3 years now and its still stock :D !!!!

Winton should be a good weekend for us at the IM series. 1 hour race a heap of competitors lined up. Including Teddys 360NGT, John's Aston martin, Ac Cobras, the Maserati Grandsports and the usual gaggle of Porsches. Hoping to have a 34GTR and a few Vipers up fighting with the Euro stuff aswell.

haha lucky i posted. I was taking to Nick Percats crew on Saturday and they said that they would see us up there sunday. Will have to check whats going on Saturday then

AHAHAH Who was that? Mark, Wombat or Neame? Yeh i saw on the entry list that Nick was running the Formula Ford, They must be blowing out the cobwebs of their own FF!!

Yeh if you look at the Mallala website i think they have sprints on Sunday or something! And ours is on the Sat day/evening.

Nah his name is Chris - he is a friend of the family that travels around with the crew and works on the cars. Nick is now running BRM, he should be driving the F3000 as well as Samantha Reeds parents have lodged a complaint that he drove it at an earlier test day and isn't competing in the State series.

Ahhh ok then, Can't say i know Chris, I only know Nick, Mark, Neame, Wombat pretty well as we raced Karts with them.

So what Nick doesn't run under Tom Walkinshaw(spelling) anymore? or is that just for the National rounds?? And State rounds will be BRM??

Did you hear Nick got to drive Tanders V8 around Phillip Island the bastard!! I think he might head to F3 next year and be apart of the Tandersport crew! well that was the latest i heard!

Yeh Sam Reed is ok, Good to see some half decent looking birds out there in a race suit........lol

from what i hear he may be racing the BRM from now on ( i only hear bits and pieces through my mate), although i heard that he will be going overseas with ol Tom for a Formula ford festival (UK i think not 100%)

    • I got back to Japan in January and was keen to get back on track as quickly as possible. Europe is god-awful for track accessibility (by comparison), so I picked up a first-gen GT86 in December just to have something I could jump into right away. The Skyline came over in a container this time and landed in early January. It was a bit battered after Europe, though—I refused to do anything beyond essential upkeep while it was over there. The clutch master cylinder gave out, and so did the power steering. I didn’t even bother changing the oil; it was the same stuff that went in just before I left Japan the first time. Naughty. Power steering parts would’ve cost double with shipping and taxes, so knowing I’d be heading back to Japan, I just postponed it and powered through the arm workout. It took a solid three months to get the car back on the road. Registration was a nightmare this time around. There were a bunch of BS fees to navigate, and sourcing parts was a headache. I needed stock seats for shaken, mistakenly blew 34k JPY on some ENR34 seats—which, of course, didn’t fit—then ended up having the car’s technical sheet amended to register it as a two-seater with the Brides. Then there’s the GT86. Amazing car. Does everything I want it to do. Parts are cheap, easy to find, and I don’t care what anyone says—it’s super rewarding to drive. I’ve done a few basic mods: diff ratio, coilovers, discs, pads, seat, etc. It already had a new exhaust manifold and the 180kph limiter removed, so I assume it’s running some kind of map. I’ve just been thrashing it at the track non-stop—mostly Fuji Speedway now, since I need something with higher speed after all that autobahn time. The wheels on the R34 always pissed me off—too big, and it was a nightmare getting tires to fit properly under the arches. So I threw in the towel and bought something that fits better. Looks way cleaner too (at least to me)—less hotboy, less attention-seeking. Still an R34, though. Now for future plans. There are a few things still outstanding with the car. First up, the rear subframe needs an overhaul—that’s priority one. Next, I need to figure out an engine rebuild plan. No timeline yet, but I want to keep it economical—not cutting corners, just not throwing tens of thousands at a mechanic I can barely communicate with. And finally, paint. Plus a bit of tidying up here and there.
    • Nope, needed to clearance under the bar a little with a heat gun, a 1/2" extension as the "clearancer", and big hammer, I was aware of this from the onset, they fit a 2.0 with this intake no problems, but, the 2.5 is around 15mm taller than a 2.0, so "clearancing" was required  It "just" touched when test fitting, now, I have about 10mm of clearance  You cannot see where it was done, and so far, there's no contact when giving it the beans Happy days
    • It's been a while since I've updated this thread. The last year (and some) has been very hectic. In the second-half of 2024 I took the R34 on a trip through Germany, Italy, France and Switzerland - it was f*cking great. I got a little annoyed with the attention the car was getting around Europe and really didn't drive it that much. I could barely work on the car since I was living in an inner-city apartment (with underground parking). During the trip, the car lost power steering in France - split hose - and I ended up driving around 4,000kms with no power steering.  There were a few Nurburgring trips here and there, but in total the R34 amassed just shy of 7,000kms on European roads. Long story short, I broke up with the reason I was transferred to Europe for and requested to be moved back to Japan. The E90, loved it. It was a sunk cost of around EUR 10,000 and I sold it to a friend for EUR 1,500 just to get rid of it quickly. Trust me, moving countries f*cking sucks and I could not be bothered to be as methodical as I was the first time around.
    • I assume clearances were all a-okay?
    • Shock tower brace is in +5Kw....LOL
