I think we should have a thread about where fixed speed camera's are located, the most frequent locations of speed camera vans and what cars we've identified as unmarked patrol cars, just so that we can help each other out as this new "Blitz" on speeding and street racing gets worse and worse...

I have managed to get my hands on (thanks to a friend of a friend) a press release by the ACT government about the newest fixed speed camera locations:

The following sites are now operational as of 13th August 2007.

Tuggeranong Parkway, (Northbound) - near the Cotter Road overpass

Tuggeranong Parkway, (Southbound) - near the Cotter Road overpass

FURTHER EXPANSION OF TRAFFIC CAMERA PROGRAM

Minister for the Territory and Municipal Services, John Hargreaves, today announced a further expansion of the ACT traffic camera program, with another eight cameras to be put into use around Canberra.

These sites have new red light/ speed camera's installed:

Canberra Avenue/Captain Cook Crescent/Manuka Circle; and

Gungahlin Drive/Gundaroo Drive.

These sites are planned for new fixed cameras:

Federal Highway, southbound, approaching the Antill Street roundabout

Federal Highway, northbound, approaching the Antill Street roundabout

Tuggeranong Parkway, both directions, near the Cotter Road overpass

Tuggeranong Parkway, both directions, near the Hindmarsh Drive underpass

Barton Highway, both directions, between Curran Drive and Gold Creek Road

Barton Highway, both directions, between Gungahlin Drive and Ellenborough Street

Monaro Highway, both directions, near the Hindmarsh Drive overpass

Monaro Highway, northbound, between Lanyon Drive and Sheppard Street

Monaro Highway, southbound, between Mugga Lane and Isabella Drive

I know that we are responsible drivers and dont speed anyway so this thread is just as a guide for those of us a little bit worried that our speedo is inaccurate... :)

Cheers, good in theory, using the forum to collage info like this, and about unmarked cars.

Though rem, they can use this forum in the same manor for checking up on local meet spots, cruises, those with illegal cars etc etc.

Be wary "they are out there" :)

Speed vans can not be within 200m of a speed change sign according to rego website. But dont speed and you wont need to know this rule.

Someone forgot to tell the van that was sitting just after 100k signs on the Tugg Parkway (Northbound) on Monday. Its okay I was being a good girl :D but to be fair, I think it was checking the 100k limit, not the 80k limit (because it had the 100k sign on the roof)

This site has some interesting "stuff" and talks about camera protocols (I won't say facts because I can't verify its accuracy).

I'm amazed with what they say about admitting the truth, its like insurance companies, they say the same thing... but to me it would be like saying "you're not going to believe your own eyes are you?" but then imagine what it would be like if you were sitting on the limit and be told you were over - it may be your speedo, or the camera, but you werent intentionally speeding, that would be hard to take but even harder to prove.

hmmm I had better get my speedo checked LOL

Unsure how true this is but apparently you cant be done for speeding on the same road twice by 2 different vans

Anyway, only unmarked car i've seen around is a White Mitsubishi 360

You mean 380 right

I know of a Black XR6T unmarked car and pretty much any newer model comodore with chasers on it is a cop car.

I got flashed one night by a maroon unmarked VE. He was being a tool too.

EDIT: Heh, maybe we should start something like this.... http://www.speedcam.co.uk/gatso2.htm

you actually think theres someone sitting and watching a screen of a still camera on another camera?

Mate even if there was the response time wouldnt be fast enough to catch someone attacking it.

no but having video evidence of yourself vandalising government property is a bit of a deterrent

It would be very easy to dress all in black and sneak up behind the first camera and destroy it, then move onto the next one, no one would see you and you would have at least 10 minutes before the cops turned up to get out of there.

I suggest metho and a lighter...

The speed camera in Queanbeyan has a camera watching it to make sure it doesnt get vandalised again

It was vandalised not long ago, camera was spray painted black.

Eventually, you'll need security camera to watch security camera that watches security

camera that watches the speed camera... :ermm:

A while back I saw an unmarked Holden Maloo Ute. It had all the normal tell-tail signs of being a cop such as the lights on the dash etc.

A week or so after I spoke to a senior police officer from the "Anti Hoon Sqaud" and he confirmed that they are using the ute. I cant remember what colour it was as it came past quickly in the other direction. He also said that they were using all kinds of cars to catch people out.

On another point WTF are these dickhead RTA people trying to achieve on the Monaro with these new cameras? Ive never seen a crash near either camera apart from someone hitting a roo. The location of the camera near isabella drive is bullshit. Its right behind a huge sign so it cant be seen. Revenue raising scum.

    • Oh, also, forgot to add these photos I believe.
    • Thought i'd update on this. I was able to get in contact with Craig Lieberman and later on Darryl Alison (owner of Kaizo Industries). Darryl was able to help me verify that my car was in fact one of theirs and is helping me find more info on mine !
    • There's restrictor pills in the stock boost control hoses. That's how they set the amount that was bled off and hence the "high" boost setting. The usual mod in the day was to remove it and send the "high" boost setting up to about 14 psi.
    • Thanks Duncan, that's the best info I've read. Furthermore after learning about the PCM programming side controlling the factory boost solenoid, the purpose of the solenoid is to "bleed" boost when pin 25 is earthed, thus allowing spring pressure in the wastegate actuator to overcome diaphragm boost pressure, thus closing or reducing the position of the wastegate flap creating more boost as the turbo is able to spin faster. It's pretty cool to see a designated Pill to do exactly this, would have liked to have seen it with a tiny filter over the end for those moments in vacuum.  The constant bleed pill has now been removed completely from the system and solenoid boost control has been restored once again.   Case closed 😂
    • The wideband reading is meaningless if it's not running. Why are you using shitty old sidefeeds on any engine, let alone a Neo? What manifold and fuel rail are you using to achieve that? Beyond that, can't help you with AEM stuff as I've never been their ECU/CAS combo.
