Hi guys im just wondering if any r34gtr owners that have replaced their cats with a straight pipe has any problems with their exhaust temp readings on the mfd and if the readings are still functioning properly. I have heard from few owners that the better flow will result in higher temps and the likelyhood of it destroying the sensor is quite high.

i still would want my egt sensor being put in and can monitor the readings. Not really considering the option of just plugging out the egt sensor as most owners would do.

Cheers

the sensor is really only there to give you an indication of potential damage to the cat isn't it? it's really to far away from the engine to actually moniter potentially dangerouse exhaust temperatures i would've thought, and if temperatures were to rise enough to destroy the sensor i would assume that would be the least of your worries :S

Thanks for the input. You've got a point . But i thought the exhaust temp is also to monitor if your turbos is being cooled enough, although the location is quite far off, but it at least serves as an indication ? But i think it should be alright. Thanks for the input

Cheers
