The a31 efi m/t gauge cluster is so hard to find in my country as all cefiro models that were released here are carbed with an rb24s. A friend of mine fitted an s14 gauge cluster and it looks very seam to the shape of the dashboard except that its a little smaller. The r32 gauge is the only one I can find here that is why I am asking but if there is a way to make my stock non-efi gauge to work with an efi engine then that would be good. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.

Hey, can u post ur friend's s14 cluster ?

Also u don't need to swap the whole cluster to make it work. Just get an AT rb20de cluster and take a tacho from it and put inside ur rb24 one. I did this already  If u use rhd cluster, ur speedo will be on the wrong side. And this complicates things, u would have to do something with the speedo cable and do something about the mounting brackets for the cluster in the front dash.

Sure, I'll take a pic of my friends s14 cluster when I see his car later since its undergoing some works.

Thanks for the info. I'll see if I can find any rb20de gauge cluster. Do you think any speed from the cluster of other rb20d engines will work too?

You can swap the dials. But u don't need to swap the cluster itself. U can have the 180km/h dials if u like and have the old mechanism inside. Btw, you can also use your old rb24s gearbox for the ease of conversion. Its the same as turbo rb20det one. Has same part number, red breather hose. Can you PM me ? Wanna ask you some questions about how you do conversions there.

Thanks!

Any cefiro tacho should work, besides the RB24S. That leaves a few more options, RB20E, RB25DE, RB20DET. Manual or auto doesn't make a difference.

Interested about the S14 cluster sortof fitting, would be good for people who do SR conversions, both the tacho and speedo would suit engine/gbox conversion.

sorry for the crappy pics but here are some pics of an r33 gauge cluster in an a31. If they are the same then the r32 cluster will fit too. I'll try to take pics of my friends s14 gauge in an a31 for the benefit of those who wants to use it.

Hella Flush,

Some wires on the cluster sockets were rewired.

daisu,

From the setup done to the cefiro with the r33 cluster, everything from the r32 speedo sensors were used since the engine my friend got came very complete with all those.

Digging up this old thread.

My cluster is playing funny business so this could be a nice little mod. I'm thinking that the engine is RB25 so the tacho should be ok. Box is RB25 so technically the speedo should be ok too. Not sure about the other gauges on there though....

Can anyone shed some light?

    • CTIS (Central Tire Inflation System) has existed since the 80's. I'm looking into buying a Hummer H1 and they generally included it.
    • My idle is set at 950rpm though - Moving the timing around 20 degrees is not really what I'd call a calm idle. That said... neither is chop, by definition. The LS ECU likes to adjust timing to hold idle as opposed to air. It'd work, but generally speaking there'd be a discrepancy in the base idle and the IACV would want to move the timing around anyway to maintain said idle. I think I'm just going to keep the timing steady anyway. Preserve my engine mounts.  My aircon is now officially regassed. As the guy was reversing I noticed my reverse lights do not operate, along with my reverse cam. This is a bit distressing, because 100% of guides talk about which wire to connect to backup cams as "the goes with the [other color] wire". Often when doing conversions. Unfortunately the R34 colour wires aren't documented Unfortunately I had a T56 Magnum gearbox with it's reverse switch, which also isn't documented. Unfortunately there's definitely not documentation for people with both of these in the one car. Unfortunately I forgot. After many hours of this, I have a reverse cam and reverse lights again. The wire going through the trans tunnel to the reverse switch had broken. Upon inspection, it looks like this one wire had about 7 spade terminals and extensions in it.. for reasons I cannot possibly comprehend. I also spent the 750 hours required to clean up the wiring behind my head unit which now looks like this: This is a monumental improvement relative to what used to be there WRT triple gauges, head unit, traction control, wideband controller, and whatever the f**k OEM stuff still exists there in various states of connectivity/needed. Next step is to check in at the Exhaust shop to see/confirm how much clearance I have, to decide what mid mufflers or 'resonators' (which are just straight through, narrower mufflers) I can add and hopefully cut out a lot of exhaust leaks, pinhole, v-band or otherwise. But first step will be to 'take a look' before the next step.

    • Still haven't put the injectors and R35 AFM in so we can tune the bloody thing for the HG highflow it got mid last year! I think I can forecast the upgrade path to a bigger twin scroll, external gate, Haltech, flex setup, Samsonas, dis dat, etc will be .... a while away!
