hay all. i picked up a coupe r34 skyline, 2L non turbo automatic. slow az! but i just put in a rb25det engine and pickd up a manual rb20det gearbox, all i got is the engine and just the box, what else do i need? 5months ago i didnt no what a starter moter lookd like. so i not doing to bad so far... i think?

You should of picked up a RB25 gearbox. The RB20 box will be a little too weak.

na all the pro drifters r getting them. i resurched it and the rb20det is inly weeker in 1st and 2nd gear, well thats what i got told.

oh and what color should i paint it? its a tos up between mitellic orange with black bonet, black roof and black boot or all matt black with bronze or gold mags>?

na its was only a neo 2L. maxd out at 40kmh up a hill. no grunt

Fact: Non-Turbo R34's come with a RB25DE from the factory. The RB NEO engine is 2.5L.

I find that very hard to believe.

I don't think you researched it properly. Mate up the gear box to a RB25DET and it will be extra weak.

There is a section on the forums too discuss cosmetics. Please use that section for more info and advice on paint colour etc.

Do yourself a favour and get yourself an RB25det gearbox. It will be a waste of time and money if you put the rb20 box on.

Well how'd you be. They do exist. The R34 GT came with a RB20DE NEO motor.

They must be rare as hens teeth. I've never seen or heard of them in Australia or Japan. Goodness knows why anyone would buy one. Hence the conversion I suppose.

Sorry for implying they never came with one. I stand corrected.

:)

lol @ r34 with RB20DE.

i feel for ya, i really do.

as for gearbox, get rid of the rb20det gearbox and buy an rb25det one. will save hassles later on.

dont forget to upgrade brakes, driveshafts etc if u want more power, as they will be shithouse.

hay thanks. yeah i thought i might have to up grade brakes and all that. but its already 5 stud. would i still need to upgrade the brakes? as for the gearbox im hoping it will hold out until i can afford the money to get a rb25det. they are very expensive. hardst thing about this gearbox is trying to get a drive shaft that will fit a rb20det.

yeh i wouldnt wanna have an rb25det with rb20de brakes...it'd kinda suck. especially if u plan on making more power. id do all the brakes first before u decide to make more power. doesnt matter if its 5 stud, thats just the hub, nothing to do with braking. so you would be better off getting disc's and calipers off an R33 or an R34 with the rb25det.

Kudos Motorsports has a complete R33 auto to manual kit.

Maybe he can separate the bits you need. Maybe not. He might not want to separate.

I would of thought NZ had some import wreckers over there to get parts from. Otherwise you'll have to source them from wreckers here in aus.

Try Nisswreck.

    • ok so if i wanted to go 18's i would go for 8's  in front 30+ or 32+ off set at front and the back 9 would be ok? what offset should i aim for.. then can i do some  hunting for wheel rim choices..    If i get this - will this fit all around: Size: 18 x 8.5 +37 - n what tyres size tyre should i get for front n back?
    • Absolute f*cking nightmare. I had to take breaks constantly, and I was always pissed off when I got home. The line split in Italy on day 2 (we drove from the Netherlands), lol. Driving any narrow European town was... well, sh*t.   Appreciate it man. Here, I'll just drop a favourite from the load I took on Saturday.   I'll update here when things happen with the car, the thing is, with stock power and almost everything chassis-wise taken care of, there really are no problems. 268,000kms now and counting.
    • Ah! I actually managed to snag a lightly used set.... that aren't so suitable for me right now. They don't work on a GTT without some cutting or creative heat moulding. I thought about reselling them myself cause I didn't want to murder them, but it looks like I'm probably going to attempt to murder them/melt them because I may as well. @GTSBoy @PranK can somebody close this thread?
    • Hey mate,  I have a set, one is slightly damaged but wont be noticable once installed.  Shoot me a message if your still after them
    • I couldn't wait But, the black constant tension hose clamps were too thick and there wasn't enough clearance at the T/B and I couldn't get it to seat properly, so I had use a silver one there I also added some 3" silicone over the alloy bit that goes through to hole on the radiator support as it looked like it was sitting on the edge of the hole in the radiator support, I never noticed a rattle or anything, but there was a witness mark It is basicly done, and I can live with the silver hose clamp at the T/B, I will get a black clamp for the head vent though where it is attached to the bulkhead fitting  It never stops...LOL, only issue now with the shock tower brace is it slightly touches the under bonnet liner now, if I leave it it will either wear some paint off the brace where it touches, or damage the liner, so I removed the liner to see what I have to work with, with the liner removed I have about 20mm of clearance, but sadly the middle part of the underside of the bonnet is only dusted with paint and looks crap, so I cannot have that, but.... as I have a roll of Carbuilders premium under bonnet insulation in the garage laying around that is only 5.5mm thick (we were going to use it on the boys Patrol, but he crashed the front of it a few months and it was written off, hence why he now drives my old Honda Accord Euro), I'll use the OEM liner as a template and get the Carbuilders stuff fitted up to cover that dusted paint up
