I have a baby sh!t brown Pulsar as a daily driver and a modded 32 GT-R as my....car i never get to drive lol. When i drive the R it always fun but I drove it into the office and home a couple of time during rush hour(s) and it was not much fun. Its not what the cars really about. Its about taking it for a squirt on the weekends or a track day...if I ever get home or going on a cruise. If I had to drive my R to work everyday I would wear it out without the pleasure of using the power, plus you can' park/abandon a bunky in town, in Freo or at a footy game (if your that way inclined) and not have to worry that some arsehat has ripped it off, scratched it or dented it . Get a bunky search for the right R

Paul...260z Bunky sounds nice

I drove my R to work today, peak freeway traffic plus I have this Nismo twin plate now which is still not bedded in *sigh. Normally I drive my '79 Escort bunky. If I don't drive my Skyline every 4-5 days the battery goes flat.

As someone who has already done your GTST option...I would say go the GTR. Thats what I am going to do. The money that I have spent on this I could have almost bought a 33GTR and kept this as a pretty stockish daily. Live and learn is all I can say

After picking up my R on Tuesday, I've finally realised that owning an R isn't as easy as I had assumed.

I noticed today on the road that Skylines..especially GTRs are rarely seen on the road during the middle of the day. WRXs, XR's, HSVs, SS etc are so common no one really stops to stare at them really, though i must admit this purple 6ltr with massive kit and bonnet scoop was a hell head turner today.

But between the space of 1 and 5pm on Tuesday, I had countless local hood rats yell out 'that's sick man' , a fat lady bend my mirror trying to get in between my whale and her whale of a 4WD, schoolies take mobile phone pics of my car (according to the hairdresser where the car was parked across from) and every person driving next to me just gauking at my car / wanting to drag me.

Now some people would like that attention, but seriously all of the above just made me so paranoid that I'm now considering not using the R as my work car, which was the main intention of use for the car.

Driving it daily to work and back, especially if you're car is in a secured spot would be an ok thing but after my short experience this week I'm re-thinking about my use for the R. I think what it will boil down to are the places I have to visit during the day, and if any involve Midland Gate or going to places in the likes of Swan View then I won't be driving the car.

    • You’ll be very upset when you bust that too not to mention the gearing totally sucks. Don’t do it.
    • Is the panel filter one that is oiled? Have you ever cleaned or touched the AFM?
    • So.... the K&N air box thingo was too big, ended up gifting it to a mate, well, by gifting it he actually supplied food and beer at the pub,  which was nice, as it will not sit on a shelf in the garage for the next 10 years I did trim up some of the existing stuff to neaten it all up and gave it some wrinkle paint, unfortunately it currently has a used and abused mish mash of different types of hose clamps, 4 big fat T bolt type (shit), and a few normal clamps of vairing sizes and brands, but..... only until the 6 constant tension black worm clamps that I ordered from EFI solutions turn up next week Currently the current hose clamps are triggering me hard, LOL Is this the final version, probably not, I really want just 2 silicone pieces, a straight bit of silicone from the filter to the MAF is easy and will happen as soon as I head into Just Jap tomorrow, the problematic part is a 30° silicone bend from the MAF to the TB that I can connect the engine breather from the head, I found that there are bulk head fittings for boat bilge pumps that should work, but until I can get a 30° silicone bend the alloy pipe, and the 11ty thousand hose clamps, are there for the foreseeable future 4 hose clamps are golden, 6 are grudgingly acceptable, the 8 currently holding it all together is just taking the piss    I've also ordered 60 more retaining wall blocks for the front yard, I mis-gonculated the height that was required to get above the base of the Photinia's (red robin's) that are the hedge behind the front fence, currently it is 2 blocks high, and about 1/2 a block short, so going 3 blocks high will be above the base of the red robin's, and allow some room for mulch
    • It is the stock air box with the panel filter. Everything else is stock except the exhaust at this point, as I also went back to the cleaned 270cc injectors. I will check the RPM when the IACV is unplugged and report back.
    • As MBS suggested if this is happening when the engine is cold you're going to want to remove the intake air regulator and verify resistance + that the shutter is physically opening and closing. At -20C should be fully open, 20C half open, over 60C fully closed. At 20C should be 70-80 ohms. For AAC valve testing using a Consult cable see if you can raise and lower the idle by commanding more or less AAC duty cycle. Hopefully it's pretty linear as well, shouldn't be like 30% AAC valve is barely idling and 40% is 1500 rpm.
