i have a gtr33 v spec with a power fc and need to check the timming , the problem i have is ,when i used the timing light i cant pick up 20 degrees on the pulley i keep fluctuating .going and comming all over the place . what could be the problem

use the timing light corectly.(thru the wire loop at the back near the ignitor) or get a new timing light. they usualy have no issues picking it up.

worst case the cas could be rooted and or the spline in the camshaft is gone.

have you disconnected your aac valve so the car sits on base idle. stops it from jumping around. also you might have to double loop the wire on the igniter to get a correct signal for the timming light.

i have tried the cas in another car and it work correctly with the same timming light . so nothing is wrong with the cas and timming light.

I HAVE JUST CHECK MY TIMMING AND COULD NOT GET IT TO 20 DEGREES BECAUSE THE TIMMING KEPT JUMPING ALL OVER AND NOT STEADING OUT . ALSO THE ENGINE STALL WHILE CHECKING TIMMING AND THE TIMMING LIGHT STILL WORKING . WHAT CAUSES THE LIGHT TO WORK WHEN THE ENGINE IS DEAD.
