Smell petrol outside the petrol filling hole

When I just bought my R33 GTS-T. The petrol filling cap was a temporary one. Then, I replace the cap with a N14 Pulsar cap.

Everytime after I fill up the petrol, I will turn it until hear 5 clicks. But, I can smell petrol outside the filling hole with everything is closed. And half tank of petrol only. (Not smell straight away after I fill the petrol)

Anyone know why?

Anyone know that will I lost some petrol as it evaporate to the air?

All nissan ones are the same.

i had a pathfinder one in my old coupe.

You'll find that you can pull the filler thing out (the bit they put in for complaince) as all the silicone will have been eaten away.

Just get some fuel resistant silicone from an auto place, and re-seal it again. Costs like 5 bucks i think and you get a fair bit.

Make sure you leave it for the full 24 hours though.

I drove after about 12 and it has eaten it all away again so i'm leaking... again!
