Hi all,

Now that i have your attention

i have been thinking about possibly organising a Track day with a slight twist!

putting japans racing marques up against each other for bragging rights.

i have been talking to a few owners of all three makes mentioned and most of seem keen on the idea about having a track day/time attack day

This is just in its infancy at the moment i am more or less just gauging interest i know a few of you go on track days etc

obviously you would need a track ready car with all cams basics ie cams liecence fire extinguisher helmet etc

so in terms of structure i was thinking of splitting the field in to groups ie novice intermediate expert etc

then awarding points for the most succesful make based on average time of entrants in the group.

so if you are so if you are keen post your interest suggestions etc

this intial stage is just so i can have an idea of number so i can work out prices possible dates etc and possible points schemes i am all ears at the moment.

a few of these kinds of days have been organised interstate so i figure why should we miss out here in SA, we have plenty of Nice track ready GTR's, EVO's and STI's so why not use em

if its all too hard it do if it is all too hard it doesnt really matter i just thought i would give it a try!

Awesome i will keep you guys posted on my findings.

keep registering your interest and i will compile a list of potential entrants.

actually... PM me if your you interested with your email and i will keep you in the loop.

i might need a designated GTR official/member/organiser. so yeh let me know

and guys you would be surprised about how many track ready evos are out here in SA.

and yes the EVO club is fairly organised with a few race mad guys who are keen to get out for some track time.

It didnt take long for you guys to spam this thread...

was kinda surprised it lasted as long as it did without stupid posts!

well for now i have one fairly interested person from SAU.

i hope it doesnt end up just a EVO Vs STI day come on boys & girls

i was thinking for me to even bother making further enquiries i need atleast 5-10 people keen??

and as for racing GTSTs i think it may be kept GTR only

and no i am not being a snob i love GTSTs, but to make it fair we can only compare 4WD against 4WD, although i know of a few guys with GTST who would be very competitive in terms of times. its just i would like to keep it this way.

Edited by mad34

I know no GTSTs hurts but i am only thinking of the actual event sorry boys i do feel bad but hey....

If you guys can get together some decent GTRs it will be awesome! I wouldnt be scared if i had a GTR id be getting ready to go hunting EVOs and STIs

also i reply to your post luke ENR34 i think only GTRs pretty much stipulates NO NON TURBOS

Edited by mad34

Mad34: How are you gonna make this even through the 3 cars?? All stock? All in certian power brackets? No point having a 300kw GTR v a 200kw Evo and so on!

In IPRA we have to run a restrictor just before the turbs to restrict the air flow, and everyone has the same size!

Iam scared of something little but it aint your gtst!

yeh i spose if you cant catch me theres no point bein scared, you and that s13 silvia with winnie th pooh ears are a good match...

and agree with daz....stupid not having power classes doesnt really prove to much.

So what your saying is that GTR's have to be restricted to be on the same level as say an EVO...if thats the case is there really any comparrason?? Iam sure there is modified EVO's/STI's out there, and hey they already have the advantage of weighing less and having a so called "better" 4WD system.

Ryan

Yeh well no point having this really expierenced driver in a 200kw car up against a 350kw beginner, they willl just eat them up in the straight!

Its gotta come down to power of the car! like 100-200kw, 200-300 and 400+! If the driver sucks, then thats thier problem, get out to a prac day and learn and/or de-tune your car till you can drive it properly!!

Deluxe

i was have been thinking long and hard about this.

I was thinking of organising the field in to groups.

groups seperated by level of modifications (this would require scrutineering by ppl in the know)

so in simple terms

have groups such as

1) All out race cars ie tarmac cars

2) Fairly Modified street cars set up for track

3)mild modified street cars set up for track

4)Stockos

i am and will be speaking to many people about this and am open to suggestions

i was thinking of maybe even having a qualifying session first up in the morning on the day

or even nominating a predicted lap time for yourself as an entrant and applying penalties for being quicker than your prescribed time.

As i have said before i am just interested in knowing if i can get atleast 10 cars of each marque out there. Also possibly getting the day sponsored.

before i go any further.

i hope that sort of gives people a basis of consideration

as i have said feel free to make suggestions

Then its down to driver ability and experience

Nah not saying "GTR's" have to be restricted, look at all the comparisons of the cars in the past!! All stock as a rock!

Alright, everyone has to provide a dyno readout to prove power, they have scales out at Malalla........You can work out the rest i think!!!!

There are a few evos in adel making around 300awkw that will compete. I also have had interstate Evo interest. Most evo guys are track mad.

Evos dont necessarily need big power to put down really good times.

Getting a quick lap time is all about car set ie balance of power braking and suspension

big HP GTRs dont always have the brakes to back up the HP either std brembos will only cut it for so long around mallala escpecially with 300+kw

i have seen similar days organised in a similar fashion to what i have suggested.

This sounds awesome.

When are you expecting to organise the first meet?

You can just gather interest, get deposit and book out the track for a day. I don't think you will need to organise many other things with CAMS etc etc for a private track day.

Don't put on any restriction otherwise people will just bring their Holden and Ford out  The less restriction the better.

Just let everyone qualify then group them into their qualifying time class. I'll be keen to join this with my GTR if it happen at the end of this year.

    • As far as I can tell I have everything properly set in the Haltech software for engine size, injector data, all sensors seem to be reporting proper numbers.  If I change any injector details it doesnt run right.    Changing the base map is having the biggest change in response, im not sure how people are saying it doesnt really matter.  I'm guessing under normal conditions the ECU is able to self adjust and keep everything smooth.   Right now my best performance is happening by lowering the base map just enough to where the ECU us doing short term cut of about 45% to reach the target Lambda of 14.7.  That way when I start putting load on it still has high enough fuel map to not be so lean.  After 2500 rpm I raised the base map to what would be really rich at no load, but still helps with the lean spots on load.  I figure I don't have much reason to be above 2500rpm with no load.  When watching other videos it seems their target is reached much faster than mine.  Mine takes forever to adjust and reach the target. My next few days will be spent making sure timing is good, it was running fine before doing the ECU and DBW swap, but want to verify.  I'll also probably swap in the new injectors I bought as well as a walbro 255 pump.
    • It would be different if the sealant hadn't started to peel up with gaps in the glue about ~6cm and bigger in some areas. I would much prefer not having to do the work take them off the car . However, the filler the owner put in the roof rack mount cavities has shrunk and begun to crack on the rail delete panels. I cant trust that to hold off moisture ingress especially where I live. Not only that but I have faded paint on as well as on either side of these panels, so they would need to come off to give the roofline a proper respray. My goal is to get in there and put a healthy amount of epoxy instead of panel filler/bog and potentially skin with carbon fiber. I have 2 spare rolls from an old motorcycle fairing project from a few years back and I think it'd be a nice touch on a black stag.  I've seen some threads where people replace their roof rack delete with a welded in sheet metal part. But has anyone re-worked the roof rails themselves? It seems like there is a lot of volume there to add in some threads and maybe a keyway for a quick(er) release roof rack system. Not afraid to mill something out if I have to. It would be cool to have a cross bar only setup. That way I can keep the sleek roofline that would accept a couple bolts to gain back that extra utility  3D print some snazzy covers to hide the threaded section to be thorough and keep things covered when not using the rack.
    • Probably not. A workshop grade scantool is my go to for proper Consult interrogation. Any workshop grade tool should do it. Just go to a workshop.
    • In my head it does make sense to be a fuel problem since that is what I touched when cleaning the system. When I was testing with the fuel pressure gauge, the pressure was constantly 2.5 bar with the FPR vacuum removed. When stalling, the pressure was going up to 3.0 bar (which is how it should be on ignition).
    • ECUtalk pages don't mention they support the ABS computer (consult port has more than one CAN), so you might just need a different scan tool. But, I would expect ABS is a different light to the brake warning/handbrake light, do you see an ABS light come on for a few seconds when you turn the key from ACC to IGN? But since you said: I'd have a look at the ABS sensors in the rear hubs to make sure they are not damaged, disconnected etc.
