well im up to about 12K ( :D )

am lets see]

$1500 on audio

$400 on rims

$1200 on rubber

$2000 on suspention

$2000 on front brakes

$1000 on power

$500 on interior

REST i cant rember

and about to spend 6-7k at then end on the year :(:)

Not that much, mods I think is about $1k maybe, not including the stereo (because we really wont go there). But when I fix stuff, I do an upgrade. So I've spent a lot doing fixing things. It makes it easier to justify the money. When I sell the car I might break even on the mods.

But as said, this is a question that shouldnt be asked. BAN!!! :)

so far iv spent about 6ish but im about to add another 5k on turbo injectors pfc tune and a few other little bits and pieces

when i got the car the power was a big jump from my carby civic so i said to my self, "ill just stick a stereo in the skyline and be done with it"

boy how wrong i was......... :(

Starting this thread was like breaking the cardinal rule of car modification.

Never ask such a question.

(PS I ticked the $35k + box)

That's only cos that's the biggest number he put on the poll. :)

I stopped counting at about $15k I think. I've since had a full engine rebuild, manual conversion, suspension ,brakes and other bits and pieces, yet I look at it and think hmm, all it needs is a, b, c and d; oh and e, f, g and maybe h, i and j. Then I'll be happy.

well with the 180 ive gone..

Std shifter (short shifters are ghey) $25

Nardi $250

cusco 2way $750

many sets of tyres $400

rims $100

servicing $150

zipties $8.99 (oh and they are almost all gone!)

$1683.99 of installed stuff

have a PFC sitting here waiting for turbo and injs $830

by my power goal 250kw ill spend around 4k all up :P

SR FTW

Not too much as it already had the minimal mods (cooler, exhaust, kit etc):

Tint = $100

Wheels = $2000

Alarm = $800

Stereo = $1500

eww... $4500 and iv got absolutely no where.

Atleast I can see the end. I want a computer and dump pipe and that will do power wise. Can't be stuffed spending too much money. I've got a big enough loan to pay off to realise cars aren't everything..(please dont ban me haha)

I passed the amount that my insurance covers about 6 months ago :happy: which is 50% of what the car is worth...

I think I'm about at the 10k mark... with stock running gear and engine...

This is only on upgrades too... no repairs, no paint, no little projects, not the car... I can point out 10k of non factory items in my car :P

^ only 10k car purchase price?

Ive spent 25k in 1.5 years :'(

and that will be it! ...I swear

Holy fck at 100k+ and at the number of people over 35k, makes me feel better about myself :wave:

lol, Jail after you are done for doing 200+kph after increaseing kw's and wanting to see how it goes.

I do not do such things (or think its wise) not to mention my speedo wont read that high.

edit: 15 - 25k after buying the car

I don't think it is wise to look at the speedo once you go past the 120km/h mark :D

Car - $16,000.00

Stamp duty - $506.00

Insurance - $3532.00

Alarm/Immobiliser/Turbo Timer - $450

Front Speakers $125

Rear Speakers $120

DIN Pocket $27

NSW-SAU Stuff $60

Total - $20,820

I bought the car on 14th of July 2007 too, its the most money I've spent on anything over any period of time, let alone 3 months :wave:

Someone should keep tabs on this thread so next time someone asks the question of "How much a Skyline should cost?" we scare them off with all the big numbers :D

over 2000 and ive had the car about 3 weeks :wave: and still more to come because it seems to be surging at idle

at least when im done with it, it will be to the standard it should be at

    • Hello, sorry for being late to join the discussion, but my clock just died on me.   Ive tried to look at Michaels digital clock repair.docx and it doesnt work maybe the file has expired.   Please let me know if you can re upload it or take some youtube videos to show us how to get the clock installed? thanks
    • I thought that might be the case, thats what I'll start saving for. Thanks for the info
    • Ps i found the below forum and it seems to be the same scenario Im dealing with. Going to check my ECU coolant temp wire tomorrow    From NICOclub forum: s1 RB25det flooding at start up Thu Apr 11, 2013 7:23 am I am completely lost on this. Car ran perfectly fine when I parked it at the end of the year. I took the engine out and painted the engine bay, and put a fuel cell with an inline walbro 255 instead of the in tank unit I had last year. After reinstalling everything, the engine floods when the fuel pump primes. if i pull the fuel pump fuse it'll start, and as soon as I put the fuse back in it starts running ridiculously rich. I checked the tps voltage, and its fine. Cleaned the maf as it had some dust from sitting on a shelf all winter, fuel pressure is correct while running, but wont fire until there is less than 5psi in the lines. The fuel lines are run correctly. I have found a few threads with the same problem but no actual explanation of what fixed it, the threads just ended. Any help would be appreciated. I found the problem though. There was a break in one of the ecu coolant temp sensor wires. Once it was repaired it fired right up with no problems. I would have never thought a non working coolant temp sensor would have caused such an issue.
    • Hi sorry late reply I didnt get a chance to take any pics (my mechanics on the other side of the city) but the plugs were fouled from being too rich. I noticed the MAF wasn't genuine, so I replaced it with a genuine green label unit. I also swapped in a different ignitor, but the issue remains. I've narrowed it down a bit now: - If I unplug and reconnect the fuel lines and install fresh spark plugs, the car starts right up and runs perfectly. Took it around the block with no issues - As soon as I shut it off and try to restart, it won't start again - Fuel pressure while cranking is steady around 40 psi, injectors have good spray, return line is clear, and the FPR vacuum is working. It just seems like it's getting flooded after the first start I unplugged coolant sensors to see if its related to ECU flooding but that didnt make a difference. Im thinking its related to this because this issue only started happening after fixing coolant leaks and replacing the bottom part of the stock manifolds coolant pipe. My mechanic took off the inlet to get to get to do these repairs. My mechanics actually just an old mate who's retired now so ill be taking it to a different mechanic who i know has exp with RBs to see if they find anything. If you have any ideas please send em lll give it a try. Ive tried other things like swapping the injectors, fuel rail, different fuel pressure regs, different ignitor, spark plugs, comp test and MAF but the same issue persists.
    • My return flow is custom and puts the return behind the reo, instead of at the bottom. All my core is in the air flow, rather than losing some of it up behind the reo. I realise that the core really acts more as a spiky heatsink than as a constant rate heat exchanger, and that therefore size is important.... but mine fits everything I needed and wanted without having to cut anything, and that's worth something too. And there won't be a hot patch of core up behind the reo after every hit, releasing heat back into the intake air.
