Nope, moderate launch but 3rd didn't like the heavy bit of my triple plate. Clutch+slightly reckless engagement=smashed 3rd gear. The previous owner broke 3rd on two boxes though 360-370awkw it might be time for an upgrade or more controlled shifting practices.

Thanks for the link but unfortunately it does not include transfer case. After speaking with Shaun at Boostworx it has come to my attention that there is more to it than just bolting my old transfer case to the new box. There is a fair bit of set up work involved.

Yeh i have the serial numbers from both. Physically the series 3 has stronger synchros and smoother shift. There are a few other minor differences.

When i asked about the Kansai box and its shift quality i was told it was unknown because there was no shifter attached. I am happy to buy the box but i need to know if it works or not.

only boxes that have been driven are going to be able to answer that and I doubt there's many of those at import yards

we dont lie here theres no point and we do offer cash back if you have problems on start up

my 33 gts-t box felt fine on the floor in the car is a different story 3 gear syncro is alittle worn and I have to shift slowly

alternatively get boostworks to give it a quick check over before install

You've got rocks in your head if you don't clean out all the shite in a engine or gearbox or diff after buying from a import wrecker! And that is no disrespect to any of the wreckers out there, most times they don't even know the background of the part. I'd be getting it stripped down and rebuilt before it goes in anyways, don't wanna have to re post this 6 months down the track do you! Better be safe than sorry!! As they say, "when in a hurry, shite turns bad, BUT you've always got time to do it the second time"

Thats what i am weighing up atm, do i rebuild with a strong gearset or be gentle on a good second hander? Dont worry i had no intention of installing a box without a thourough checkover first. Still thinking about it at the moment, if only i could find a good condition stock gearset then i would rebuild my current box.

    • There's restrictor pills in the stock boost control hoses. That's how they set the amount that was bled off and hence the "high" boost setting. The usual mod in the day was to remove it and send the "high" boost setting up to about 14 psi.
    • Thanks Duncan, that's the best info I've read. Furthermore after learning about the PCM programming side controlling the factory boost solenoid, the purpose of the solenoid is to "bleed" boost when pin 25 is earthed, thus allowing spring pressure in the wastegate actuator to overcome diaphragm boost pressure, thus closing or reducing the position of the wastegate flap creating more boost as the turbo is able to spin faster. It's pretty cool to see a designated Pill to do exactly this, would have liked to have seen it with a tiny filter over the end for those moments in vacuum.  The constant bleed pill has now been removed completely from the system and solenoid boost control has been restored once again.   Case closed 😂
    • The wideband reading is meaningless if it's not running. Why are you using shitty old sidefeeds on any engine, let alone a Neo? What manifold and fuel rail are you using to achieve that? Beyond that, can't help you with AEM stuff as I've never been their ECU/CAS combo.
    • Manual boost controllers (where a little of the boost was bled off) were quite common back in the day, because they were cheap and easy. Generally they had a manual adjustment screw rather than being fixed like yours. Down side is they always bleed boost, not just when you want them to so an electronic boost controller that uses a solenoid will have less lag.
    • Hello , im new here and i have A31 home build  RB25det neo stock eng / turbo  aem ems 2 blue connector  aem 3.5 map aem cas disk aem wideband connected to ecu  355 lph pump 550 nismo yellow injectors side feed aftermarket regulator  and won’t start with base aem tuner basic tune eventually flipped cas 180 degree so it triggers on correct stroke not in exhaust cycle  Now it won’t start Wideband reads 10 and 11 at lowest fuel setting  and will share calibrations soon for aem tuner i think something is wrong in aem tuner    please if you have any information, am very grateful
