The bolts to get my coilpacks out are they 12mm

yes steve.

if i buy a brand spanking new Power FC, will i still need to get it tuned?

trying to figure out if its worth buying a brand new 1 or 2nd hand? seem as both will require a tune.

You will be able to drive it but its best to get it straight onto a dyno to see where its at, as every car behaves different to it.

well i cant get my bloody turbo lines off :P

got the dump pipe off which was a bitch! and the gearbox crossmember hmmmm ill leave that to ryan LOL

lol, see ya soon mate.

Just had a phone call from some wanker enquiring about my GSXR race bike.

Him: "I heard you're selling a bike. What is it and how much?"

Me: "GSXR 600 race or track bike only. No road gear. Comes with race stands front and rear, tyre warmers front and rear, spare race fairings, spare gearbox and other parts. $5000 flat."

Him: "Will it take much to get it on the road?"

Me: "Not my problem. You've called about a 'race bike' mate. Obviously, you haven't read the ad, nor do you know what you want to buy."

Him: "Thats why I called you. I was only told by a mate you had a cheap bike for sale."

Me: "I have a race bike for sale at a cheap price, if thats what you mean." (I've already made my mind up this guy is a tool)

Him: "So its not registered?"

Me: "You're a dreamer mate, and I don't deal with dreamers. I'm not selling a race bike to a young fool looking to kill himself racing on the street. Good bye"

Him: "Nah, wait mate. I'm trying to buy a bike for my brother, not me. Can me and my brother come look at it."

Me: "Won't get you any closer to owning it."

[hang up phone]

:D

I get nothing but clueless f**kheads, dreaming they're the next Casey Stoner. But they all want a cheap road bike. Yet, they ring up for a bike advertised as a "race bike, no street gear". Then they try and talk me down on price.

Its a bargain, its a steal, its the sale of the century ... f**k it I'm keeping it.

[end rant]

:P

    • They are under bucket shims. Tomei provides a test shim kit and then any measurement of shim required.
    • I always wondered how you were supposed to buy a set of 24 buckets and somehow magically have every single one of them yield exactly the desired clearance. I would have thought you'd need to assemble a cam with either 12 "sample" or "example" buckets of known top thickness (or a single such sample/example 12 times over!!) measure clearances at every valve, and then do the usual math to work out what the actual "shimness" of each bucket needed to be, before buying the required buckets to make up he thicknesses that you didn't have on hand.
    • I now seem to be limited in power due to my rev limit/hydraulic lifters in my built RB25. I'm looking into converting over to Tomei solid lifters. Question for anyone that has done the conversion. I was always under the impression that when using the Tomei solid lifter conversion, you would also require new valves (Longer or shorter stems, I can't remember which).  I don't know where I got this idea, as so far I see no mention of this in any of the Tomei documentation. It just states I need the Tomei solid buckets, solid lifter cams and upgraded springs. As my head is already built, all I would need is another set of 1000$ Kelford cams, 500$ buckets and about 4H hours of my time installing and I'm off to the races!?!? There's no way it's that simple, I must be missing something?
