we got into Melbourne at hmm 10pm (Vic time).

yeah we left our car parked at the Crown Casino the whole time, too much walking

back and forth, but it was great.

on the way back from parking the car me and my mum walked past 2 guys, 1 said

"what do i do?" and the other guy said "well what you do is ask how they are and how there

well got all the turbo and all piing etc put back on, gave it a quick start

to make sure it still runs

only thing i noticed is a big amount of smoke :nyaanyaa:

hope its just cos it hasnt been started in ages.....

gotta tighten up all the cooler pipes and final bits ' n peieces, add some coolant

and it shouls be done...... i hope.

all this for one bloody gasket.

Has anyone done pads on the rear with only 2 of the halves having metal tangs in the corner of the pad while the other 2 halves don't?

Anyone knows if it matters whether the pad with the tang goes on the inside or outside of the rotor?

Sample pic only, off a different make of vehicle;

ahh good stuff Luke thanks....I better get back out there and finish off now.

Doing the rear coilovers tonight as well and the fronts tomorrow hopefully.....will post up pics later.

EDIT: Just looked at your pic Luke, that looks more like an anti-squeal shim that goes across the back of the pad......is that what you were referring to or were you talking about the small tang on the bottom corner of the pad?

The tab is just the wear indicator. As 4 piston calipers should wear evenly (equal pressure on both sides and no sliding pins that lock up) it doesn't really matter where it goes.

It's the thing that squeals so you know that your pads are close to worn out before they actually are and you have metal to metal contact

    • Seems like a decent result for a modded JZX110. They are bulky in comparison to the 100 and 90 models (which I'd prefer myself) but they are getting very few and far between here in JP these days. Thanks for the detailed review and the import process into the UK. I also have a car which I'm hoping to export from Japan at some stage so it's good to know if someone from the UK was interested in it. By the way the corrosion underneath is par for the course for cars which were located in/near the mountains or along the Japan sea coastline. They get huge amounts of snow every winter and the sodium chloride is used on the roads. Many cars have some kind of rubber like treatment underneath but they tend to limit it to the wheel arches underbody and fuel tank. Suspension arms and sub-frames will have similar corrosion to your JZX110 which is a common sight. See it all the time and car dealers here generally don't even mention it unless asked.
    • If the sound goes away when you clutch in, the 1.5/2 way diffs are just shit, and you are a normal person. The diff is likely "fine" but driving at anything under 30kmh is a violent horrible experience. It would be exaggerated with solid diff bushings and subframe bushings if you have those.
