Yeah I hate lag too. 350kw is bloody heaps for what I use the car for (daily) and would def get cam gears and cams.

Just depends on if I can find 34 N1's cheaper than the brand new garretts - and even then it might just be worth paying the difference to have brand new turbos... so I'm guessing -5's are what I should start saving for...

-D

Yeah I run 280kws and thats plenty for me on the road and track :P If I got the N1's could run more boost :P and get more of a rush :)

The 2nd hand R34 N1s do come up on teh forum often for around $2k...Just need someone that knows turbos to go with you to check there condition see if the wheels spin freely and no noise and see if they have shaft play :P

CRD where selling the 2530's -5 for an awesome price a little while ago...check them out here on SAU. So was another trader that Luke (heslo) was going to buy through, Wonder if he ever got his turbos??

Had a quick look at RB26 results: try this

18psi with high flowed steel wheels = 280 odd kws

18psi with -5s = 316kws .........

Only had a quick look - maybe there are others making more power on high flow steel wheels?? Post em up if you find them.....

hmmm, the reason i ask is the whole "defect" thing, and i could get my car thru regency with steel wheeled/hi flowed and not worry about having to take em off, put stock on, then do it all again once i pass as im under the impression regency only check the numbers on the side of the turbo?

hey Ben (Dohmar)

any chance you know the name of the dark grey sharks in this clip?

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eiM4YjTGI2I

Black one with red tail is called (funny enough) a red tailed black shark (Labeo Bicolor) (and they're bullies in the aquarium too). Theyre not really a shark, as theyre a member of the carp family.

The silver ones are called Emperor ID Sharks in the prelude to the clip, however thats just another name for Shark Catfish (yes, its a catfish). They look rather cool tho.

ahhh cheers,

just doing some re-search as to what can live with what...

im thinkin of turning my 70 ltr into a tropical set up to get some practice before i move up

to the 300 ltr after my holiday.

Hey guys, got a bit of a pickle here as I didn't realize Ryan isn't working on people's cars and I was ment to get mine wired today (sorry to hear you got stuffed around bud, cheers for the help you did provide) so I really need to get my car wired up ASAP (loan car for work is now gone). Anyone got any experience in wiring up a series 1 RB25 to an R32? After help asap and am willing to pay cash and beers. Basically motor is all in ready to wire but I'm at a bit of a loss where to start. Gonna start reading what I can right now.

Give us a hoy if you can help and would like to earn some coin, will forever be in your debt.

250 is good power man, settle for that...it will stay very reliable too.

yeh i have to say 250 is a good power range... stoked as with 250 and responce...

cant find traction thou lol...

Yep they check the housing number on the side of the turbo. I don't know if there's any way for them to check if the turbo has been high-flowed, as there's no exterior differences? It's all internal?

Would -7's give similar power to stock or closer to the -5 ? -5 = quicker spoolup, is that correct?

Cheers

-D

Im pretty sure the -7 are the smaller ones, then -5 and -10 are even bigger. The numbers do not go in order of size for some strange reason.

My -5's come on full boost at 18psi at about 4500-5000rpm

Check out this thread

GT2860r-7 or -5 Responce

Here they all are; The reason the don't go in order is because the -X comes from the last number in the CHRA code and doesn't mean anything. The thing is with the -10's from the picture on the Garrett website the factory piping won't bolt up to the compressor outlet as they seem to have the S-Series 3 bolt flange not the GTR's 2 bolt flange. unless they have just showed a general picture of the GT2871R and it actually come with the GTR housing.

HP quoted is gross HP @ the flywheel;

GT2860R-5 360hp each

GT2871R 52T-10 460hp each

Personally i think there is a better turbo than the -10 in terms of response. I have the same turbo as the -10 on my CA and it is reasonably laggy with full boost (17psi) coming at around 4000rpm, and that's with 1.8 litres "driving" the turbo. with two of these on a RB26 I can only imagine how laggy they would be with 1.3 litres "driving" each turbo.

The better option that I was talking about is the GT2871R 48 trim (the -10 is a 52T). This turbo is rated at 400hp but would be a lot more responsive than the -10, and are still rated at 800 gross FWHP. You will have to get GTR compressor housing fitted to it but it would be worth it.

    • Harness is for a s1 Rb25det, and it is engine and lower harness.  the old harness had broken off plugs and was in very rough condition/exposed wires and splices etc. it is not able to be put back on the car, I could visually inspect to see if they had rewired any pins on the ecu plug. The fuel pump definitly isn’t turning off it’s an external pump and very loud you can hear it. Will look at the other harness tonight, am also going to pull the fuel rail and watch the injectors spray, will update here with what I find. Pretty sure at this point it has to be something to do with injectors because car will fire up on starting fluid and cas is clicking the Injectors. Fuel pressure is steady 43psi
    • Check the injectors flow evenly, and are actually flowing what you and the ECU think they should be flowing. If it's starting up on starter fluid, you have a fuel issue. Is it possible under cranking your fuel pump is turning off?   The harness you replaced, is that the whole engine harness? Do yourself a test, and drop the old harness on and plug it into the Z32 ECU. It's possible they've wired things different. From memory S1 to S2 is different in RB25 and you may have a wrong loom
    • I haven’t pulled the injectors to watch them spray yet but they are clicking from the cas and all of the spark plugs are wet with fuel. I’ve thought the cylinders were being flooded from the beginning and was hoping fuel pressure would fix it. Tonight I am going to pull the rail and watch the injectors spray. Don’t know how to test/diagnose if the plugs are firing in correct sequence but that should be a timing thing and as far as timing goes my car still has the half moon for the cas can only install it 1 way. And my mechanical timing is 100% correct I posted photos above. Confirmed with the balancer on and off.
    • I checked spark on all cylinders and they all visually have spark with the plug pulled and grounded, but plug 1 is the only one that fouled. This was a running swap that blew up and was rebuilt by a machine shop, put a new wiring specialties harness and did all gaskets, studs, and bolts while it was out.  compression is 135-150 across all cylinders. Aside from that from my understanding with the z32 ecu and maf the car should start regardless. The wiring for TPS and the dual 02 sensor/ dual knock sensor stuff shouldn’t actually stop the car from starting or even running well, (just slightly rich)  they just give fault codes. Car supposedly is supposed to start as long as you have z32 afm and ecu with the nistune base map and that’s info coming from a well known and trusted tuner who does a lot with SR/RB (Rsenthalpy). After more trouble shooting today where I’m at right now is that the cas is sending signal to the injectors they click while spinning the rotor, Fuel pressure is now set at 43psi, all cylinders have good compression and all of the plugs looked great (just wet with fuel) except for cylinder 1 which was very black (cylinder 1 has 150psi compression). all of the coils generate spark if pulled out and grounded out on the head. On the fuel pump car just pops into the exhaust. On starting fluid car will fire off. Hard to tell if all cylinders are firing off but definitley a couple. sounds like all of them but it’s only for 3-5 seconds hard to tell.
