I may have missed this above, but just a few questions....

What Year is the car?

What crank are you using?

What block are you using?

What brakes are on the car?

Any work done to the Gearbox?

I'm looking for a circuit car, and trying to minimise any additional purchases...

car is 89model, crank is r32 GTR crank with JUN collar and Tomei Oil pump, R32GTR block prepped and blue printed, R32GTR brakes with slotted rotors, R32GTR gearbox,

driving in sydney traffic slowing down for lights was in 3rd gear went to change to 2nd but couldnt, was jammed in 3rd gear, forced it out with a fair bit of effort, drove back to coast from sydney and 3rd gear crunches like no synchros.

drained gear oil and found the 3 little doobies that hold and align the baulk ring, synchro to the gear.

can either drop price and sell car as is or get a 2nd hand box put in...

Dude that is an awesome looking car but i dont think tyre walls would go very well with it.

Just picked up a 2nd hand 32GTR box from a front cut with stock motor, and 53,000ks on it.

will fit it asap so car will be all better.

also getting the rocker covers anodised a nice red this week, should help brighten the looks of the motor.

My mate just bought my stolen wheels without knowing so car will now be sold with 17x9 Sparco light weight wheels freshly painted with Federal tyres.

will post up pics tommorow

WTF? wow whats the chances, can u track the theif or too much hassle?

Tryin to on the sly, but heard he might have good relations with the rebels...

which means i stay away

There seems to be a lot of confusion here, every one is asking me why i needed to put in new bearings.

so here is my answer

i have never killed any bearings, when i first built the engine i didnt know about the common rb26 oil problems. so i pulled the crank out and put on a JUN collar and Tomei oil pump (upgrading from the N1 pump i had on it) fitted an oil restrictor and external oil return, and i thought for the sake of 150 dollars i put some new bearings in. every one has been worried that the engine might have failed. which it hasnt.

Call me if you want to discuss 0414879711

cheers

Jez

    • I know people cry at the price of the Getrag 12-14k for a conversion now, but it really is a nice mid point. Not going to get change from 10k on a gearset installed.  $30k++ for sequential.   I know you run the risk of a damaged used one and parts are hard to get but as a street car gearbox its really hard to beat. If you enjoy a more traditional manual, its the choice no question.
