naiwiboo
Hey, i'm just wondering if anyone has used the NGK Iridium Spark Plugs in their '33? If you believe the brochure they're a lot better, but I've heard people say they're not worth the money - just wanting to know if anyone has had any experience with them or anythin similar - good or bad? Thanks Guys! Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/19013-worth-the-ngk-iridium-spark-plugs/ Share on other sites
ron
i have the iridium heat rating 7 in mine. cannt tell the different actually, but they will last longer in a well tuned A/F environment. ron Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/19013-worth-the-ngk-iridium-spark-plugs/#findComment-399378 Share on other sites
hippy
i dont' know what plugs i've got in my car .. i've never changed them ... another option would be to get cheaper ones but change them more regularly .. skyguy3804
I too spent the $$$ on Iridiums and were not that impressed with them... next time I'm just going to go the platinums. C. Miss*33
I've got NGK Platinums and I'm happier with them than the crappy copper ones that were in my car when I got it!! I've heard that Iridium doesn't make all that much of a difference... bbenny
Well my dad's GTR had problems with the platinum plugs fouling at anything over 1.2bar. we fitted the iridiums and they made a massive difference. much smoother and no probs at high boost. im going to get them for my GTS. i dont know if it would make a huge diff on a low powered car like mine. but it made a big difference with his. Thanx for your help again Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/19013-worth-the-ngk-iridium-spark-plugs/#findComment-399769 Share on other sites
bbenny
hey price is about $19.50ea I dont know what u should gap them too. i know for turbo RB engines its 0.8mm but on the packet the iridiums say not to change the gap because the tips are very fine and fragile. I gapped them to 0.8 anyway and they have been pretty good. EnricoPalazzo
I think normal NGKs are fine (the copper ones) Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/19013-worth-the-ngk-iridium-spark-plugs/#findComment-400058 Share on other sites

Miss*33
Yes it is a waste of money, but if you want your car to run nicely and not #*&% up, then why be tight...if you spend that much on a car, you look after it! akeenan
if you spend that much on a car, you look after it! i know how to look after my car. some things are an over kill this being one of them. Miss*33
Yeah I know, a lot of things are overkill...but they spin a whole lot of crap about how much better the expensive stuff is, I guess people just believe them, a lot of us being those people!!! I was quite happy to go with the cheap copper plugs until he explained to me why the Platinums were better...made sense to me so I bought them! ron
like i said earlier i have iridiums in mine at the moment. and im happy with them. i paid $21 each i think, sure they spark stronger due to the finer tips. but i dont expect to see any big performance gain. but the good thing is i wont have to change them for another 100K k's or so. (NGK quote 150K actually) ron Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/19013-worth-the-ngk-iridium-spark-plugs/#findComment-401120 Share on other sites
HKS400R
you think $20 is expansive for a spark plug how about going through 3 set in 5 months i dont know why my car keep fouling but it abit better now . CMS Drifter
I can get iridiums for about $16 ea....... There wont be much gain from platinum to iridium. The main fact is that they are a longer lasting plug. Standard copper plugs "wear out" I haven't noticed any significant difference in performance in my gtst.
