Ok, an age old question that I'm sure has popped up on this forum a million times.

Who recommends who for doing a full respray on my R33 gts25-t?

Now my car is black and I can only assume that it would not have to be taken back to bear metal,

but in saying that no price can be given unless someone sees the car.

I know you get what you pay for, but I would like to know if anyone can recommend

any workshops where they have been extremely happy with the result & what they paid.

As you have said yourself its been up on the forum a million times so why not search? :P

I personally recommend Gal Smash Repairs, as do quite a few other people.

I did do a search and came up with everything else but recommended workshops in Melbourne.

im also interested in this but for my 32.. i went to racepaints in braeiside and tryed to get a quote but the owner wasnt there.. one of the guys that worked there said about 3500 but he said i would have to wait to get a real quote.. i might take a look at this transcar place.. thanks for that

Yeah i had my car done by them (transcar) your welcome to check out my car if you ever come on a cruise or anything. Its a show quality paint job.

They used House of Kolor paint on my car and its a candy paint which is very expensive. I think it costs me like 10k but thats with gtr guards put on front and rear, stripped to a bare shell (no, interior, glass etc) bodykit moulded on with no screws, car high filled twice. aswell as a base coat b4 final painting.

Heres a pic of it in base coat b4 final paint..

It may seem expensive but, for the amount of work and detail they went into its totally worth it.

he just said he paid around 10k.. but for house of kolor candy thats expected..

awsome colour candy33.. thats what colour i wanted but the price is way out of my price range.. and i herd that u have to respray every couple of years with candi.. is this true??

not being bias as my mechanic, but i recommend driftline racing in campbellfield as all the cars that i've seen fresh after spray are immaculate. he has done many nissan cars and has experience in the field. it won't be as cheap as chips but the quality is surely there.

Depending if you look after it or not, but it does have a tendency to fade or become patchy over time, and with candy its near impossible to retouch or repair, if say you get keyed etc. and normally requires a full respray, so i owuldnt reccomend a job like this for a street car.

I've only had my Candy red for a year or so and had to redo it (Candy Magenta), as my rear bar got cracked. The average HOK candy respray could be had for around the 8k mark, but like i said i had extra preparation done to it.

Here's my car in its new incarnation with full GTR bodywork which will be at Melb autosalon.

mate, gal smash repairs in tullamarine r pretty good. Speak to dave, hes a good bloke and pretty fair on prices. I hit my car and he did a good job repairing/spraying it.

Are Gal's located on mickelham road?? Do you have any pics of your car??

a decent panel shop can touch up HOK no dramas, we have had a few of our show cars dmaged in transport. Worst of all being our candy gold supra Race Paint in Braeside fixed it perfectley for a very reasonable price and no-one could pick the damage repair in any light.

    • Yes, I know🙄 but the sequential is not in my budget... don't want to reduce power neither, so looks like I'm stuck in the rabbit hole🤣
    • You’ll be very upset when you bust that too not to mention the gearing totally sucks. Don’t do it.
    • Is the panel filter one that is oiled? Have you ever cleaned or touched the AFM?
    • So.... the K&N air box thingo was too big, ended up gifting it to a mate, well, by gifting it he actually supplied food and beer at the pub,  which was nice, as it will not sit on a shelf in the garage for the next 10 years I did trim up some of the existing stuff to neaten it all up and gave it some wrinkle paint, unfortunately it currently has a used and abused mish mash of different types of hose clamps, 4 big fat T bolt type (shit), and a few normal clamps of vairing sizes and brands, but..... only until the 6 constant tension black worm clamps that I ordered from EFI solutions turn up next week Currently the current hose clamps are triggering me hard, LOL Is this the final version, probably not, I really want just 2 silicone pieces, a straight bit of silicone from the filter to the MAF is easy and will happen as soon as I head into Just Jap tomorrow, the problematic part is a 30° silicone bend from the MAF to the TB that I can connect the engine breather from the head, I found that there are bulk head fittings for boat bilge pumps that should work, but until I can get a 30° silicone bend the alloy pipe, and the 11ty thousand hose clamps, are there for the foreseeable future 4 hose clamps are golden, 6 are grudgingly acceptable, the 8 currently holding it all together is just taking the piss    I've also ordered 60 more retaining wall blocks for the front yard, I mis-gonculated the height that was required to get above the base of the Photinia's (red robin's) that are the hedge behind the front fence, currently it is 2 blocks high, and about 1/2 a block short, so going 3 blocks high will be above the base of the red robin's, and allow some room for mulch
    • It is the stock air box with the panel filter. Everything else is stock except the exhaust at this point, as I also went back to the cleaned 270cc injectors. I will check the RPM when the IACV is unplugged and report back.
