i just tried on a friend's hks pod filter on my car.. usually have stock air box with apexi panel filter..

with the hiflow turbo.. i can hear the turbo very loud when its spooling up.. but as soon as i put the pod on.. i can barely hear my turbo at all

like.. i can't even hear the pod suction noise.. all i can hear is my exhaust and nothing else..

the pod is very loud on my friend's r34 with his stock turbo so we didn't understand why at all..

any opinions on this ??

That's weird.... very weird... as I got a Apexi Pod on my car and you can hear the engine much more louder with the BOV spooling even more aggressively... did you plug the Pod straight into your air meter without any thing in between? With the Pod, it sounds awesome.... absolutely breath-taking... check your hoses and wires also...

yea i did.. like i said.. we were also confused.. like i can hear my turbo way louder with the stock airbox than the pod..

but when we put the pod back on to friend's car.. its so loud?

so kinda confused and don't know what's going on there

After posting my previous response to you, I went out to my car and lifted up the engine bay to have a look for ya...

You gotta check how you have bolted on the Pod... there's actually 2 ways you can do this...

1. Bolt the pod directly (with an adaptor of course) to your airflow meter.

2. Drill a whole through your intercooler and pipe the pod to that.

The second way, is a no no... tell me how your pod looks like... take a picture of your engine bay and I will see if I can help you further. We'll talk again soon... btw, what's the brand of your Pod again... oh 1 more thing, make sure there are no wholes or air-exit gaps in your pod... this can be bad for your engine too.

it was put on as an experiment.. like me and my friend just thought.. how will my car sound if i have his pod on..

its an HKS pod with adapter bolted directly to the afm... secured by 4 bolts... it was put in the same way as he had on his car.. so i am sure there's no mistakes there.

well.. when we put it back into his car.. it was all fine and loud... on his but not mine. car has the stock airbox back on now, i am fine with the stock airbox really.. i can hear my turbo spooling loud enough in cabin .. don't really want to through the hassle of getting the pod to make the sound. was just curious as to why it didn't make that sound.. just got in my head and thought something might be wrong with my car or something.

Do u actually know someone who has done number 2? excuse the pun :P :P.

Do you mean. Bolt the pod to the pipe. Or actually what you have written there. :D

    • I thought Australia got rid of the "drag dodgy fuel up to 91 RON with ethanol", which is why all E10 advertise as "up to 94 RON" ? Anyway I put E10/91 in the missus' Mazda because she empties the tank weekly, when all my cars get 98RON. tl;dr - turbo - 98 RON, if you can't afford that, sell it and get a commuter car (or tune your car for 91, which no one does).
    • Yeah i found that alot of parts can be wrong or "very" hard to get the real right one. I already bought some brakes years ago on me "old" GT calipers and they were wrong too 😄  I told them too. Even send them pictures...but they said "EBC catalogue has them on my car... So i dont know what their answer will be. I call monday them and let them know that they are really not on my car. If they were they would be already on a car...
    • Welcome to Skyline ownership. Yes, it is entirely possible parts websites get things wrong. There's a whole world of inaccuracies out there when it comes to R34 stuff (and probably 33 and 32). Lots of things that are 'just bolt on, entirely interchangable' aren't. Even between S1 and S2 R34's. Yes they have a GTT item supposedly being 296mm. This is incorrect. I would call whoever you got them from and return them and let them know the GTT actually uses 310mm rotors. Depending on where you got them from your experience and success will obviously vary.
    • Hi...a bit a "development" on the brakes. I spoke to the guys where i get brakes from...and they are saying that 296mm EBC are for R34 GT-T. I then went to their site: https://www.ebcbrakes.com/vehicle/uk-row/NISSAN/Skyline (R34)/ and search for my car(R34 GT 1998 - it has GTT brakes) and it show me this USR1229 number and they are rly 296mm rotors... So now iam rly confused... The rotors i have now on the car are 310mm asi shown... So where is the problem? Does the whole EBC got it wrong or my calipers are just...idk know what?
    • Oh What the hell, I used to get a "are you sure you want to reply, this thread is XX months old" message. Maybe a software update remove that. My bad.
