Auctually my mate in japan has sent me this car to compliance and sell for him. I was not that keen to do it but decided I wouldnt mind driving it around while its up for sale. I could not afford to own one.

Please dont just say low KM, tell us how much. I can get one for 22800 with 93000 on the clock landed and compiled... shave 12g off your price and you might be able to sell it.

So you can get one for 22800 landed and complied with 93000 on the clock from j-spec congratulations how the hell do you know what condition its in when its over in Japan.

For that price its probably got problems.I got a series two with less ks on the clock from japan it owes me nearly thirty but the engines f**ked and theres a fair bit of rust in the engine bay. now Im trying to sell it for $13,500

A good one is worth what he is asking and is actualy the cheapest advertised in Australia next to mine.

Look no offence buddy but being able to look and see the car makes all the difference and some people just can't gamble with there money!

When a car is for sale in Japan and not going through the auctions there is normaly a reason for it as it has problems.

sorry R33 I hope I wasn't being rude its just I have looked into these 260RS and have been importing for nearly twenty years and this will be the biggest loss to date.

And I just think there an awesome car (when running correctly).

Also if you were to buy a good one from the auction it would cost you to land it and comply it between 30 and 40 k easily.

Hey Pat.. lol - was about to comment when I saw your second post.

Moderators sorry for commenting here, yes I know it's the for sale section not 'lets argue about what is a reasonable price'!

Sorry to hear you got a bad one.. not all the cheap cars from Japan are bad though. I bought sight unseen through J-Spec and was very happy with the condition of my car and feel I got a total bargain (Skyline, not Stagea - but same principle). They do go to a lot of trouble to get as much information and heaps of photos showing condition before you buy too.

The Autech Stageas are really coming down at the moment though. There are heaps around on the car sales sites in Japan I saw one at 1.1m and a couple around the 1.5-1.7m yen mark (though they do range up in the 2.5-3m mark for later year, low km examples). This means landed prices of around the $20-$25k mark are not out of the question.

Still for one already here and if it is as good as it sounds... good luck with the sale XJ40 - I kind of hope for you it does take a while to sell so you get to enjoy it longer!!

  • 2 weeks later...

I thought $37500 might be abit high but I dont really know the values. He has offered to sell it abit cheaper so if anyone is interested offers will be considered

70,000km

Closed.

XJ40 - Read the rules before you post in the classifieds again.

Not only are you a business posting in the private seller area, but you are advertising a car on behalf of someone else.

    • Ah! I actually managed to snag a lightly used set.... that aren't so suitable for me right now. They don't work on a GTT without some cutting or creative heat moulding. I thought about reselling them myself cause I didn't want to murder them, but it looks like I'm probably going to attempt to murder them/melt them because I may as well. @GTSBoy @PranK can somebody close this thread?
    • Hey mate,  I have a set, one is slightly damaged but wont be noticable once installed.  Shoot me a message if your still after them
    • I couldn't wait But, the black constant tension hose clamps were too thick and there wasn't enough clearance at the T/B and I couldn't get it to seat properly, so I had use a silver one there I also added some 3" silicone over the alloy bit that goes through to hole on the radiator support as it looked like it was sitting on the edge of the hole in the radiator support, I never noticed a rattle or anything, but there was a witness mark It is basicly done, and I can live with the silver hose clamp at the T/B, I will get a black clamp for the head vent though where it is attached to the bulkhead fitting  It never stops...LOL, only issue now with the shock tower brace is it slightly touches the under bonnet liner now, if I leave it it will either wear some paint off the brace where it touches, or damage the liner, so I removed the liner to see what I have to work with, with the liner removed I have about 20mm of clearance, but sadly the middle part of the underside of the bonnet is only dusted with paint and looks crap, so I cannot have that, but.... as I have a roll of Carbuilders premium under bonnet insulation in the garage laying around that is only 5.5mm thick (we were going to use it on the boys Patrol, but he crashed the front of it a few months and it was written off, hence why he now drives my old Honda Accord Euro), I'll use the OEM liner as a template and get the Carbuilders stuff fitted up to cover that dusted paint up
    • You have a knack for photography my friend. It makes the 86 look like a complete bucket. The 34 went with you to Europe and back. It's special. (we all feel the same about our 'shitboxes' that every bystander seems to absolutely love)
