Hey guys, I just saw my first R35 in Australia today, a silver 4 door driving slow as buggery in the rain just south of regency park in Adelaide.

The back really doesn't look all that good in the flesh, oh well.

I haven't even heard of any being brought in, not that I watch the Skyline scene too closely.

Same arse end at the infinity pics in an earlier post but with two equal sized round tail lights side by side with the SKYLINE letters across the back.

I was cursing that I didn't have my digicam with me.

Seeing as I saw it at Regency I can only assume it had been there for some sort of testing (Regency is the road worthy joint in Adelaide)

To make me feel even more inferior I saw a new M3 30 seocnds before the R35 as well.

Nice! Just a question, is it the R35 or V35? I thought someone said it was the V35 seeing that the engine is now a bent 6 not a straight 6? Anyone correct or support me?

I personally think the 350Z looks way better than the V/R35. I guess the R34 would be the last of the real Skylines (?).

From JB car pages:

Just about all the characteristic features of past Skylines, like the RB engines, the round tail-lights and in some cases even the place where the steering wheel sits changed.

More:

Additionally, instead of the earlier inline-6 engines, the V35 now boasts 2.5 and 3-litre V-6s, featuring the latest in engine development like E-VTC (Electro-magnetic variable valve timing control - similar to Toyota’s VVT-i) and Nissan’s newly developed direct-fuel-injection for improved responses and better fuel-economy over the previous inline-6 RB-series. All of this tech works out to 215hp and 270Nm for the 2.5L VQ25DD and 260hp/324Nm for the 3.0 litre VQ30DD, making the Skyline’s engines the strongest of its class.

Keep the camera in the car. :D

well i don't think u saw the R/V/G35, whateva. Cos the round lights have gone bye bye, and u can only seem em when they light up and THEN, they are different size. 32, 33 have same size rear lights, 34 got biggens on the outside and smallens on the inner.

man.... gotta love the new M3, soooo sexy. Gotta love a company that has 19inch semi-chrome rims as an option for a smallish 2 door sports car :D And then 19inch STANDARD for the CSL :D

were u lucky enough to hear it being driven in anger? the sound outta the quad exhaust is hella cool

No he was idling at the lights when I pulled up next to him, but he was turning back toward the city, some guy about 50 driving it. He took off like a grandpa too, but it may have only had 50 k's on the clock, who knows, anyone who buys an M3 would hopefully be doing do to drive it hard, they don't exactly have the most luxurious ride on them. Hopefully that sweet machine is not going to waste.

They also come with the VQ35DE engine, so it's not all bad. The Z has the same engine and there's a few turbo kits planned. The VQ30DET is a very close relative anyway, so I'm sure it wouldn't be that hard to turbo one.

Also, on the taillights issue, here is a pic of them when the brake pedal is pressed (I think). I think the outer round one is just a blinker. ie the days of the 4 round lights as taillights/brake lights are gone :D I'm sure someone could rig up a nice replacement set though - maybe something like the new Integra (skyline copy ;)).

Since I'm over here in the US, I'll try and check out an Infiniti G35 to see how the lights work. I really wish they brought this car out in Aus.

    • I know people cry at the price of the Getrag 12-14k for a conversion now, but it really is a nice mid point. Not going to get change from 10k on a gearset installed.  $30k++ for sequential.   I know you run the risk of a damaged used one and parts are hard to get but as a street car gearbox its really hard to beat. If you enjoy a more traditional manual, its the choice no question.
