Oil Catch Can

I have two questions:

1. What do Oil Catch Cans do (other than looking pretty under the bonnet)?

2. Where/how does it connect?

These questions might sound a bit basic, forgive me for that, never looked into it ;)

Well I installed my catch can for 2 reasons. Firstly I have an aftermarket turbo, which I run more boost than standard, and a custom intake which I have not plumbed the cam cover breathers into because - I have seen that from time to time for a variety of reasons my engine has had a bit of "blow by" and as a result vapourised oil from the crank case has passed into the intake and turbo and collected in my intercooler and some has gone back into the engine. Over a period of time the oil will eventually build up in the intercooler and you will have to pull it off to drain it and also there will bit an amount of performance loss etc. The catch can collects this vapourised oil instead of it being deposited into the intercooler etc. There are a few threads on how to hook them up on here too. If you need a photo and explanation of how I have mine just pm me.

lol did u look @ the other posts open on this?? i did post a couple of pics of where i was going to put it however, i have mounted the bracket above the turbo:S

the position is not a problem, just wanted to know where to connect the hoses... i have seen a few engine bay pics and there are a few different ways ppl connect it

yeaha i plan to connect mine between the passanger side rocker cover and the intake think this will give the best results, depends or ur engine set up i suppose. hame

can u make a photo once done, or draw on the photo, either way would be helpful.

      Yeah, plenty of air flow, there is a dedicated path that feeds the air in to the OEM intake tube behind the bumper As for a "tangible effect", maybe, but getting the pod/intake air out of the hot engine bay is worth it psychologically to me, even if it gives no performance difference, so the tangible effect in my Lizard brain saysss yessss  In the end, to me a tangible effect isn't always about performance, sometimes it a sound or a look, or even a...... feeling  Ooga-Chaka Ooga-Ooga Ooga-Chaka Ooga-Ooga Ooga-Chaka Ooga-Ooga Ooga-Chaka Ooga-Ooga

      yeah first and reverse is where you will find clutch release issues (whether hydraulic or mechanical) because the difference in revs required is the highest there; particularly changing down from 2nd to 1st when still moving. To be clearer though, it is possible that the clutch release bearing is the wrong height. This is less likely than a hydraulic issue but it is not unheard of when you are mixing and matching

      Replacing turbo water line - any recommendations or advice?

      Hi all, Restoring r33 series 1 rb25det. All the heater hoses were on their way out, have replaced them and put it all back together. After testing I noticed a small leak from behind the head on the actual metal water line to the turbo when cars warm. I tried running a longer hose over it but it kept leaking...   I am about to take the (stock) manifold off again😔 to change the water line does any one have any lines they recommend? I was looking at Aeroflow Turbo Oil & Water Line Set but not sure what everyone else recommends. Car is completely stock but want to upgrade turbo eventually. it looks like ill have to disconnect a lot just to replace these lines so if there's anything else recommended to do please let me know. Thank you in advance!
