Hello all,

just wondered if any of you have heard of this. Whenever I acclerate at low speed, I hear a loud click, coming from outisde (or underneath) the car. It also happens when i stop accelerating.

Could it be that the center bearing is stuffed? Seems to happen when there is an intial change rpm?

Any thoughts are welcome.

Cheers,

Eek:alien:

mine does this too, the clicking isn't that loud though.

and it's only a single click when accelerating at low speed or, the transition to de-acceleration at low speed. sounds like your car has the same problem though.. it's a bit annoying, i too am interested to know what it could be, as i want to get it fixed soon, when i do my 80,000km service

IRS? As in the boot around the steering arm? If thats what you mean then no. I had a laser before that had that and it would make mechanical clicking noise when turning. Its completely different in the skyline. Its more electrical, like a relay.

The 32's have a common problem with the brakes making noises. Get someone to stand beside the car (crouched down) when you take off and see if they can hear it.

It could be the pad taking up free play in the caliper.

It could also be a universal joint in the tailshaft as these make a crack when you accell and then come off accell.

Rear driveshaft's in those are pretty strong and seeing as though they don't turn too much then I doubt this will be your problem (don't rule it out though)

I would check brakes then check tailshaft.

You could remove the rear pads temporarily to see if it still does it.

With the tailshaft it will make a loud ping when you apply/remove torque. (like banging your tailshaft with a small hammer)

Hey Igor,

if you think you're going nuts... I was about to type up a reply saying that I have heard a similar clicking coming through the passenger window, sounding like something metal stuck on my tyre, then I remembered that just this afternoon, we found a nail stuck in my front left tyre...

Before I was laughing because i'm going loopy, now i'm just thinking about the time and money it'll cost to get sorted out... dammit..
