hello, i just got my R33 BNR33 and it is slightly modified with fmic and hks bov, lighten fly wheel, racing clutch and fuel injectors. I am a newbie to turbocharged car and there are a few questions that i need to seek advice from the nice people here. Below are my questions, would appreciate if anyone is kind enough to answer my questions.

1)I do not have any aftermarket oil pressure, boost level or oil temp metres on my car, can someone enlighten me what are the normal value for these readings on the R33 dashboard?

2)I installed an IES GSM alarm on the car, ever since then my turbos are giving some sort of a grinding sound whenever the rpm is below 2k. It sounds like the fins are "spinning and gridinng on something". It sounds normal at higher revs(3k and above). Is this normal?(The sound is most noticable from 1.8k to 2.8k rpm and pick-up seems to be slow, at 3k boost everything is fine and i can feel the boost)

3)what is the stock turbo for RB25DET?

4)What kind of metres should i get for my skyline?eg:voltmetre, boost meter, oil pressure etc (not for show offs, just want to make sure my car is healthy)

5)when they say change their fluids, eg: brake fluid, oil fluid, lsd fluid, bla bla bla, what kinda fluids are there to look for?(sorry, complete idiot here)

boost: at the line between 0 and +7 at full boost (+7 = 1bar = 13.8psi)

oil: around 3 on the standard gauge when warm and rising to about 3/4 way or 7 at high rpm and quick rising rpm.

stock turbo is T3. good for 12psi max.

main thing to have in ur car would be boost only. keep and eye on boost spikes if u up the boost.

fluids to change would be oil, transmisson, power steering, brakes too. only when necessary. service the car regularly with the same mechanic and hell be able to keep an eye on what is needed.

with regards to ur grinding noise, its got me stumped. if it was the turbo it would have blown if it was rubbing on the housing. grinding noise could be a rubbing tyre on guard liner or soemthing more than a turbo issue. get a workshop to look at the car. one that understands turbo's.

Mate if you dont know what the noise is. get it checked out asap. the way you describe it, its hard to pinpoint what it is. im guessing it may be from the gearbox, or your turbo is stuffed.

The oil pressure guage on the dash in a lot of skylines is very inaccurate. I recommend buying boost guage, oil pressure and oil temp. water temp if you want but the rest is for people trying to show off to their passengers.

as for fluids, try doing a search on this site to see what other people use in their cars.

grinding noise sounds like what i have between 2 and 2.5k rpm one every gear

its related to the driveline somewhere but don't know where exactly, either clutch or gearbox is my guess but a few mechanics have heard it and said its not to worry about.

Boost feels better at 3k coz thats when the turbz is starting to get a move on, under that and it feels gutless

I'm taking a stab in the dark and say he's hearing the really high pitched squeal noise. And it occurs not on boost but rather in vacuum at a certain vac point.

It sounds kind of like microphone feedback.

If its this sound your hearing, don't worry about it.

    • Ok thanks..that was my second question if i can somehow bypass this even with Nistune(that is all i have right now...aparat from stock ECU. So with some aftemarket it can by "bypassed" or make it work?  I know there is Link or Haltech (mainly used). We have ECUmaster here so i will gather some info about it.
    • Yes. You will need to get the original boost sensor and wire it in. That is.... if you plan to use a stock ECU - even a Nistuned ECU. The Nissan ECU will not operate correctly without it connected. And yes, it will do annoying stuff like you are experiencing. You will almost certainly be better off with some aftermarket ECU, than trying to hunt down rare sensors.
    • Ok so ABS/TCS is "not" the problem. Yeah i know now about the ABS with Nistune(i told that to the Nistune guy) but iam not 100% why or why i dont have ABS. ABS cube is in the engine (always has been) but i had braked couple of times rly hard and brakes just locked and scream. Does all Skylines have ABS cube? That boost sensor https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/367633-wtb-r34-gtt-turbo-pressure-sensor-pics-inside/ Is this it? I need to ask but i have a picture of engine bay and i do not see that (100% is not in that place) If i do not have this the car can do what mine is?(cutting around 4000 rpm) Here is the pic of my engine bay(only one i have) BUT i think i dont have that cuz loom was used from my RB20DE NEO and i know (obviously) that it does not have boost control or any wire to that...) so maybe that is the problem? (i dont know for 100% if that car where the engine is from had that)...but i dont have the loom from that
