got r34 auto sedan, its non turbo.

theres a snow switch jus near the steering column can sum1 tell me what this is as to compared with 'traction control'. on ignition i dont have 'tcs' or 'slip' or any thing like that light up. only thing ive got is 'snow'. what exactly does this do and is it same as traction control. checkd fuse aswell and there is no traction control fuse.

any1 out there know about this ??

Snow mode makes you to take off in like 3rd gear. Ment for snowy/icey roads so helps you to keep traction when taking off. Traction control only kicks in when u break traction and the car takes off in normal gear, being second or first.

so does that mean snow and traction control is only active during take off's. what about normal driving speeds?

what if u take a corner in the wet and the tail steps out, will both/either system try and correct traction

i know i can try all this out but wanna see other ppl experiences.

snow only active untill trans shifts to 4th...when you slow down to a stop, it won't go further than 3rd. So basically it just holds 3rd until ur high up enough in the rev range to shift 4th. Traction control is always on, unless you take it off. It works in unisen with ur brake system and acceleration. (not sure bout skylines as new to them). I know with commodores, you go around the corner, lose traction, it will force the accelerator pedal against ur foot via an actuator so u back of acceleration and then module applies individual brakes untill the car regains full traction. In regards to both systems, going into the corner and sliding, traction control will be main factor in evening you out. Snow mode only holds gears. Hope this is somewhat correct and whut ur looking for.

Not sure how similar this is to the "snow" button in stageas? In the stagea the snow button basically forces it to start off in 2nd gear. This is basically to ensure you get traction on slippery surfaces since the car wont accelerate as quick off the line in 2nd etc.

Traction control works similar to ABS but the other way round. Ie. where ABS tries to apply the brakes on and off to maximise grip when stopping, traction control will accelerate on and off to maximise grip when your foot is on the accelerator pedal. Pretty sure this traction control system only works when the car is accelerating, so it wont necessarily help if you're in a skid or anything - that depends on your ability too.

Basically, here in australia snow mode is virtually useless (unless you happen to drive in snow - i'm guessing you wont be anytime soon). So leave the snow mode off and for safety leave traction control on unless you want wheelspin :banana:

Interestingly the RWD stageas have traction control but the AWD ones dont. Almost impossible to spin the wheels with ATTESA though so the Nissan engineers probably deemed it unnecessary :bunny:

so to sum it up, snow mode already assumes ur gonna break traction therefore always uses higher gears to get drive AND traction control is always monitoring levels of grip and adjusts accodingly. Howz that sound???

i suppose snow mode wud help a little bit in the wet cauz its in taller gear and harder to wheel spin but obviously traction control is the ducks guts in the wet....

im gonna try this out and see what results i get in the car...

Traction control should be plenty enough in the wet. Snow mode will just make your car reeeeally slow on take-off.

    • Started sifting thru my brakes to decide which ones I will run on Clem   Made me think I should just put them all on Silver...for when brake fade just isn't an option   Should be able to bump rotor up from 343x32 to 348x36 off Supra. Not sure if the Supra annulus is right for the Alcons or APs but trying g to find a used Supra\M4 rotor to test fit The Alcons seem to gain 1-2mm clearance which all helps  
    • So car is getting a few mods to the cage and some jacking points welded in Meantime Ol Silver gets a new gearbox and shiny clutch.  Old Box is being set aside for Clem  
    • Probably speedometer itself if the odometer is ticking. If the needle is stuck from a bit of grease or something that can cause it to stay at 0. Or a cracked solder joint in the speedometer can do it too.
    • Thanks Fella’s   to take this off topic and to elaborate a bit more. I have an rb25/30 going into a r32 GTST.. expected to make around 600-700hp. Would you?   A) R34 GTT box   B) CD00#?  I’ve seen a few posts about the CD swap and sounds fairly involved with making it fit etc but if it’s worth the work then I’ll go that way
    • Lower at the hubs. Funny I forgot to mention that part. Do this pull here I turned the camera off too soon but the graph shows a drop at the top and that was because the pipe from the turbo blew off. The tuner said we could’ve made possibly another 15 whp. He also added if I switched to ethanol we could up the boost some more as well. I was comfortable capping it at the most of 20 pounds. Turns out the turbo pipe just needed a new worm clamp. Got home replaced that then did a third gear pull from 3k to 7200 rpm and the power was great to the top. I just got an ecu mounting bracket from IEE that I need to try and get everything to fit well. It’s a PITA to get the harness and ecu fit properly behind that kick plate
