Hey just , just wondering how do your RB25DE's go performance wise. I've got a GTS4 R33 which has Series 1 Engine (139kw) and car weighs around 1,440kg . Its not to bad though. Does chirpies in 2nd and sometimes 3rd on all Four wheels. I've got a video of acceleration. Anyone else got any video's like this we can share. I did this on a straight road on private property.

hey there glen.

in case you were unaware we have a thread stickied to share power figures.

thread link: http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/Na...-E-t138169.html

i am happy for this thread to stay and for everyone to share videos, etc. provided that everything remains legal, occurs on the race track and/or private property

eug

love the sound of the rb25de!

hmm i need to remove my 180km speed limit, anyone know how to do it?

theres a single wire you cut from the ecu..

I have it saved in my faves.. Ill have a search and post back..

Hay Glen?

What zorst do you have?.. It sounds so sexual!!!!

Any other mods?

if i got time i'll post up my r34 gtfour, roughly the same deal as yours. Only thing is mine is completly stock and is a slow turd atm, and with the stock exhaust it really chokes past 6k rpm (yours powers nicely to 7k)

i think it may be either wire 52 or 53 can't remember, but on a series 1 it also cut's out that auto lock on passenger door at above 20 kms or whatever it is, its been covered a few times in turbo section if you want to search for the exact wire,

i have heard that cutting the speed wire has caused some people to get erratic steering issues at high speed.

possibly hicas?

easiest and safest way is an SAFC.

p.s. - lock your hicas regardless, it's crap:P

is that a non turbo rb23de? its so deep a rumble i thought it has to be a turbo car.?

id be very interested inthe removal of the ecu wire. one thing bothers me ...mine wont spinthe wheels in second.....and by the sounds of it you were doing 120 in third....mine isnt ..or at least doenst feel that quick.

Woah i wish mine sounded like that!

altough when watching it i noticed your first gear you get to 50km/h then 2nd you go to around 90km/h then stop at 120km/h

perhaps im just not as nice to my car as you because i get 60 out of first and justy over 100 out of second..

perhaps its the different gear ratios on the gts-4 compared to my gts?

well anyway i love that sound!

what is your exhaust set up exactly?

i think it may be either wire 52 or 53 can't remember, but on a series 1 it also cut's out that auto lock on passenger door at above 20 kms or whatever it is, its been covered a few times in turbo section if you want to search for the exact wire,

according to the workshop manual.. 52 is CAS and 53 is Vehicle speed sensor..

So 50 points! :)

thanks champ!

appreciate the help.

No worries brother..

hey guys thanks for the response! . Yeah it does sound pretty sweet all i have is just a 2.5" Mendral Bend and a HotDog with a Magaflow Twin Tip 2.5" muffler that we cut off a burnt out 180SX we found in a paddock lol!! I've taken the middle muffler off that was on the car and replaced with the hotdog i mentioned. Im still yet to get some extractors and HiFlow cat for better sound . Also getting a Varex sometime next year. It has a mega rasp at 2800rpm but u cannot hear it when u flog the crap outta it lol. The guy that said he changes at 60km in first i'de be lucky to get that . Usually it's around 45km/h i hit redline in first gear. Its 4wd GT-R Box with different Ratio's im sure as the car is alot heavier then a GTS25. Around 110K+ im pretty sure. Rego paper states its 1460kg which is heavy for a 139kw car haha. But yeh im still waitin for you guys to post some videos up! :) peace out guys merry xmas

    • Sounds like you've got an interesting adventure ahead here with local support if you have trouble! My guess is that, unboosted, you will be OK with a small upgrade like -9. What will happen is that once the stock ECU sees more airflow than it expects it will add a heap of fuel and pull a heap of timing to be safe because it can't understand how it could get that much air without there being an issue. You will see clouds of black smoke and it won't pull hard through the midrange and top end. So, overall it will be a bit frustrating but should be OK. If you are still nervous set the base timing back 2o through the CAS, but it will be even more sluggish everywhere. As said above through...this is not my guarantee your engine won't be blown into a million pieces, leaving you looking for very hard to find parts A better idea is get a computer with logging ASAP, wire in a wide band O2 sensor and a use remote tuner. I've done multiple cars this way and while it is not as good as a specific tune on a dyno they can get it 90% right. I'd suggest if you can afford an R33 GTR these days you can afford an ECU and tune. And if you can't afford that you sure won't be able to afford the rebuild if it goes bad in the meantime,.
    • Yeah it would be nice if someone took the time to put that sort of information together, but there are a lot of variations in looms. I think you are making this way hard for yourself if you just want to get it running....sourcing an SR20 with the right wiring will be a billion times easier than matching the RB loom to an S15 chassis. If you do end up going this way, you just need to trace every wire in the loom with a multimeter, 95% of them will go to a location you can confirm at the ECU.....and then post it up for the next person who needs it
    • Just top it up with water, and keep a general idea of how much you added. It is normal for water to be pushed into and pulled out of the reservoir through the cap, and it should not be more than half full or it will be likely to overflow when hot. Any decent mechanic can do a pressure test of the cooling system to confirm if you have a leak. Keep in mind if it is only leaking a little and when hot it may well evaporate before you see it hit the ground
    • I'd ask the shop what they used and use that. Mixing coolants is sometimes OK, sometimes not, and you have know the details of each coolant to know whether it's a good idea or not.
    • Is it alright to top up with just another green coolant?
