How thick is the wire from your battery to the amp and your earth wire? If these wires are too thin it can do this.

Does it cut out with the motor running?

MOBASS, yes its doing with the engine running i am running 4 guage wiring, at least i think that is how thick it is, its not to thick and not to thin....its getting really annoying, right when a good song comes on i turn it up, and the bass keeps cutting on and off its like it is waiting to gain power before it turns back on, and also my idle seems to move everytime the bass comes on any idea's????? but only when the sub is at its potenial which is rarely cause it keeps cutting out, thanks

ok, few things i need you to answer for me first.

1.is the install fresh, or old?

2. if old, has it just started doing it, or is it an ongoing problem?

3. who did the install

it could be a few things

1. you need to upgrade your engine bay grounds. you need to remember, that the power not only needs to get to the amp, the circuit needs to be complete for it to return to the battery. the stock grounds are normally around 8ga. upgrade these to a couple of 4 guages.

2. the amp may not be wired correctly, and thus not be able to handle running the sub.

Much luck mate?

Im guessing the amp is a GM5300T and the sub is a KFCW3011? If so, im pretty sure ur amp runs 380W RMS when bridged to two channel, ur sub i THINK is a 400RMS which means they are a fairly decent matchup. If there is a fault it will be with the installation. Its obviously all hooked up to the correc places etc otherwise generally they wont work at all. I dont think ur pioneer has a safety cut-off for when it reaches high temps so it wouldnt be that (normally set at about 80 degrees anyway, which is pretty hot).

Im going to second the motion that it is the earth point. Make sure the negative (earth) lead from the amp i 4GA as well, and that it is munted to somewhere solid like a seat belt bolt, chassis point etc and not to a painted surface (which insulates it).

Should be a 5min fix if they know what theyre doing.

With that sort of setup, the earth from your engine to your battery will be more than sufficient.

    • @GTSBoy This method was able to get readings of -10 to -2, so it looks like its monitoring.  Now I need to figure out why the vacuum on the line provided isn't alternating with manifold pressure.  I went with 2 lines that an RB25 tuner recommended but I'll get a longer hose and try directly off the back of the manifold.  He may have been used to OEM intake setups while I have a DBW setup that removed the MAF and IACV.
    • I work at a car detailing and tinting shop called Quark which gets all manner of German cars in usually (mainly due to a contract with Mercedes Benz Kita Osaka, BMW Nishinomiya and others) but every once in a while something special comes in, like a fully restored 1972 HS30 Nissan Fairlady 240ZG... The shop owner had immediately started applying film to the windows as soon as it was in the shop so the interior was completely covered in towels and plastic sheets. But I could get a few photos of the engine bay which was restored like new. Such an amazing car to see in pristine condition in Japan these days.
    • Was going to say the car pulls up nicely everywhere, especially going into that last long right hander before the main straight. Looks like a lot of fun.
    • Hey Dave, welcome aboard! Good to see another soon-to-be Stagea owner here. The wagons are awesome — plenty of space, still got that Skyline DNA, and loads of potential if you’re into mods. Definitely post up pics when you get it, everyone here loves seeing new builds. What model/year are you looking at?
