Hi all,

I have just wired up the GReddy turbo timer. I have got power, I can scoll thru all the programs, play with all the settings but i can't get the car to stay on once I turn the ign off. The power to the unit turns off once the ign is off. There was a workin Apexi turbo timer in the car, I have used the same plug but b4 i plugged it all in i checked that the wires corresponded to the right wires on the new timer.

I have wired up the handbrake switch but not the speed censor could that be the problem?

I don't know if it is a wiring problem or if I am stupid and i can't work out how to programe it.

Thanks any help much appreciated.

It is quite a strange problem as (from memory) there should only be four wires needed to get the timer to work. Could have something to do with the handbrake wire you connected.

The speed censor wouldn't affect that.

Sorry I couldn't be more of a help but what I can tell you is, I installed my timer myself and haven't yet connected the handbrake or the speed wire cables and it works fine.

What I am puzzled about is how come I don't have any settings? All I can do with my timer is change the time it takes to shut the car off.

Cheers mate,

I will go and disconnect the handbrake wire now. I will let you know

Cheers mate,

I disconnected the handbrake switch but still no joy, I am going to take it to autobarn to see if they can work it out.

Thanks for your help though much appreciated

Hey, sorry I couldn't help you out. Sometimes wiring could get tricky especially when picking up where someone else left off.

Hey, sorry I couldn't help you out. Sometimes wiring could get tricky especially when picking up where someone else left off.

Yeah tell me about it. I am going to have to take it somewhere, cheers for your help.

I had mine installd today.... the guy said there is a wire left unplugged he said if i plug it back in the timer wont work ... he just said a 12v plug... not sure which one as i didnt see it put in ....

  • 1 month later...

Hey me have the exact same turbo timer and the same problem has anyone found out what it is?

Please help I have spent so many frustrated hours trying to work it out

mine was working well for 12 months then I got a flat battery as I left my headlights on and now

a new battery later and it won't work no more I can go through all the settings and seems to be working

but as soon as you turn the ignition off the engine turns off instead of turning off when the countdown is

finished

Please help with this otherwise the only thing i can do is take it to autobarn which is a fair distance for me

about a 2 hour drive.

Silly question, but doesn't the unit need a +12v supply, not a IGN switched +12v?

... I should rem, wacked one of these in 3yr ago. Lemme check the interwebs

EDIT:

Greddy_turbo_timer3.jpg

Are you sure you fed the unit both a constant +12v and a ACC +12v?

The ACC being of course, one thats live only when key is turned to ACC :whistling:

I really do have to pull mine out, junki's stress me out.

Good luck

Hey, I completely forgot about this thread. I found the problem, it wasn't my wiring it was the turbo timer it self. My wife bought me the exact same timer for my b'day I plugged it in and it worked straight away. Somethung to do with the internals.

Cheers

  • 2 weeks later...

I took mine out to autobarn today and the bloke said it was stuffed then he found the reset switch

and he pressed it and he got it going he tried it twice for me while I was there and it worked perfectly

so when I got home I went to turn the car off and it wont work the engine just turned straight off,

sounds as though I might just have to get a new one.

    • So, I've had my V36 for about a month now and have already copped an "excessive exhaust noise" notification from QLD TMR, reported by someone in my local area. It's a twin as per the original, and can have a bit of a throaty note to it when idling cold 😄 and if I do get up it a bit, it can be noisy, but it did pass a roadworthy inspection before sale, so.... ... but in the interest of being a good neighbour, I do want to quieten it down a bit. Is anyone here running a quiet aftermarket cat-back on their V36 or 370Z? And the big, bold question: does an aftermarket cat-back really make much of a performance difference on these cars?
    • The wiring diagram for the R33 RB25 is freely available, and is essentially the same same as most other RBs (just with differences as to which pin # does which job). To get the ECU to power up, you just need to provide power to the ECCS relay, and have the other power feeds that come in from the top left of the wiring diagram (wrt the ECU) that give perma power to the fuel pump relay, the ECU itself, etc etc, all connected. When you put power on all these it will just come to life. It's pretty clear from the diagram what needs to happen. Just follow the lines from the 12V + supply stuff in the top left over towards the ECU. I've even posted snips of such diagrams (not for vanilla 25, I think for Neo and 26) to various threads here in the last few months, talking about what it takes to get the fuel pump and FPCM up and going. Search these up and they will help get you started on doing the same with the vanilla 25 diagram. Hell, for all I know, I've done the same with that one in years past and have forgotten.
    • Yep...so unless someone posts up the answer you will need to probe from the ECU connector to the dash plug with a multi meter in continuity mode to trace the wires.  Note the ECU has multiple - and + (and across different key settings - Battery, IGN and Start) and most likely the power is fed from the connector(s) that is normally near the left hand headlight.
    • Thanks Duncan, I am actually just trying to get the Rb turning and running with the RB25DET S2 original loom itself  I am just trying to get it going outside the body and not thinking about the S15 or trying to match anything to the S15 loom at all I am only trying to see if anyone has done this and what pin they found to be the ignition trigger and ECU+/- on the dash connector, that's about it. Thanks
    • Hi Guys, Does anyone know any aftermarket part numbers for a starter motor to suit the VQ25DET? I can find lots of alternative part number for the VQ35DE, which I assume would fit, but there is a lot of conflicting information out there. Thanks..
