gah.!

speaking about the exhaust... couple of street racers... revving their engines and flooring the throttle down my road!

grrr.! *God Dam street racers* lol :P

bet u their ricers.. i'm trying to get a glimpse of the cars

cumon man you love it ahahaahaha ... Eastern creek right on you front lawn :) lol.....

sorry man i dont really have time for the track ,

Look cops can bust you for a silencer but what can they do ??? They can issue you with a defect in which case you wil go pass it and then go from There ??? But i dont think many cops would pick these electronic ones as it is very hard to notice it unless your the smartest cop around. there aint many of them

ah dammm.. where r u located abouts?

hard to notice?. wheres ur button anyways? is it near the dash? or like under the steering wheel or like somewhere else?

cumon man you love it ahahaahaha ... Eastern creek right on you front lawn  lol.....

haha.. i love it.. but not at night.. lol

i don't mind it at the day.... but like my road is a main road nad its like a hill.. so everyone loves to squeeze the throttle when going down.. just for the rush

other day there was an accident.. herd the tyers squeeel.. and a crash.. it was a Madza Tribute & an old mercerdes p-plater..

no-one was injured.. cept for the p-plate driver who had a dead leg.. apprantly the mercerdes "spun out" whole front right was damage.. i rekon it was a write off

btw.. it was raining aswell :S

Im In Bankstown Sydney were are you??

The button is the best thing about the muffler Its actually on a Key Ring , U know like a garage opener one of those, Its very Small you stikc it on a Key ring And on your key and just keep it ganging off the ket once a cop comes put your hand on the button and it closes striaght away, Best thing about it

yeah well hats stupidity , i admit i do street race from time to time but there is now ay id do it if it was unsafe id make sure its a clear Road, mabye a motorway or a main highway no back streets, or were there curvy corners very dangerous and especiallynot in the rain ....

I got told my Z31 NA had to be 90db at 3,300 revs...

Had no cat, straight 2 1/2" from extractors to a single muffler... and I had no hope in passing lol. Did get defected for it. Sounded bloody awesome for a VG30E though. ;)

Man the controllable muffler your talking about is actually called a "VAREX"

not "Vertex". Made by X-force, around 300 bucks.

I have one, and i think its a great looking cannon as well as having the butterfly valve/second resonating chamber.

At first it was obvious there was a valve, but now the inside has darkened up you would never know.

Cheers

wow, im comin in late on this thread, but its an interesting one.

I remember clearly, a few years back i was cruising along in a BMW i had built up over the years and i decided, stupidly at the time, id lay a few stripes for everyone to see. Not surprisingly, i was flagged down at the end of the street by an undercover and the fine tooth comb came out.

While i was caught with my hand up the skirt and didnt mind copping the rap for what it was that i did, the cop decided to "test" the zorst for loudness...with his ears and a lead foot and subsequently "stepped over the line that cops should not cross".

He turned the BM on and gave it a right booting. Redline, 7500RPM. Then he switches it off and goes, " Sorry mate, your zorst is too loud. Im gonna have to give ya a yella canary."

Im like, " Im about to give you a broken eye."

I copped the canary but this cop was all fat and attitude - so was his spooning cop buddy, with a handlebar mo the gay guy in black latex from the Village People wouldve been proud of.

Suffice to say it didnt end there and i almost got into a blue with the oinkoink for him being such a wanker..but hey i guess the same couldve been said for me, right?

Still, the law is the law and this snoutnose, was clearly riding it while flashing the badge. I was having none of it.

Went to regency, got the zorst tested and hey presto, it was well under 80. i was laughing to the guy who was giving it the test.

No shit the guy wanted to give me a hard time, sure i was being a jerk trying to impress people, yet still, id wished at the time he didnt have a badge cause i was so hot under the collar, things would have been different...very different. I would have redlined his ______ ( insert colourful noun here )

Now ive been in Japan for 3 years and i have not been hassled ONCE by ANY police and life is a lot more peaceful... Go figure...

end of story!

Guest trikdoutvl

there u go peeps read up on the verex muffler

http://xforce.com.au.tmp.anchor.net.au/cars/view_car/29

M3gtr, reading the bit about that in competent cop stickering ur car........

im pretty sure that ur within ur rights to ask for a competent mechanic to carry out the inspection of ur car cause last time i checked there not mechanics..........if any1 has the road authority book is that a fact or just a urban myth

Ah Bankstown.. thats a while for me... i'm in St Ives

haha.. neva thought of that.. thats pretty smart.. funny thing is.. if the cop pulled u ova... and the keyring ran outta batteries.. u pressed it.. and said.. ah i've tightened the bolt.. and u rev it.. and it's still dammm loud :P

haha

yea.. everyone has some street racing blood in them

we'll if u wanted to test ur car.. u could do curvy corners... but like.. another story is.. my cousin used to have a Mitibushi Galant VR4.. that type of car is a AWD and it's a rally car.. it was a 2L turbo.

U know when a AWD car does a burnout.. it doesn't hold in one place.. it tends to spin around.... we'll my cousin thought it would be cool for him just to try it out.. coz it spins....

he did if for a while... and then when he drove home... and checked his tyres.... they were worn out... to the max.. it looked like he'd been drifiting.. they were worn until u couldn't see any treads....

with out fixing it.. he went to a mates house after studying to have dinna there..

it was raining aswell

he was rushing home coz it was quite late and he had a exam the next day... so he was on red line 4th gear and going down a hill... the suddenly the car does and unwanted drift..

he's sliding down the road... so he tries.. to floor it (to gain traction)

but it wouldn't work... so all he could do is pull the handbrake and change it to 3rd gear

car slides.. misses a couple of trees by 1meter.. and smashes into a fence and a powerbox...

he was lucky he was alright.. the coppers were alright.. charged him with wreckless driving.. and u could see the skid marks trail.. from like 500meters away..

the police check how many things he hit.. i think it was 7 objects

crazy eh >_<

    • The fab work can be as simple as a couple of silicon hoses and clamps to the factory piping.
    • Just sounds like either way you need to do some fab work to get everything to fit, so why limit yourself at that point? If the GCG high flow option is zero effort in and out swap though I'd probably do that. It's almost certainly lowest risk, lowest cost, etc. The HKS GTIII-RS option that Kapr mentioned is laughably expensive for what it is, they charge the exact same for two turbos on the RB26 so their margins are off the charts on that thing.
    • Intake manifold is not a part of the issue. The turbo bolts to the exhaust manifold. That is easy. But close your eyes and picture the physical situation. That is a T3 flange on the manifold and a T3 flange on the turbo. As long as any new turbo has a T3 flange on the exhaust housing, that exhaust housing will bolt to the exhaust manifold. This places the exhaust housing in the same place as the stock one. But now move your mental attention a little further forward. The location of the compressor housing is set by the length of the turbo's core. The stock turbo had a long core. Let's say that it is..... 100mm long. So that would place the compressor housing 100mm forward of the exhaust housing. But a highflow, might well have a centre core that is shorter. Let's say that it is only 70mm long. Now the compressor housing will be 30mm further back in the engine bay than the stock one. This DOES move the turbo's compressor outlet backwards. It also moves the compressor's inlet backwards. You will very likely have to do some work to both the inlet and outlet piping to make everything connect again. I am not say this to make it out to be a bigger deal than it is. I am just pointing out that "bolt on" is sometimes not quite bolt on. The highflow from GCG that Murray linked above (https://gcg.com.au/turbo-charger-upgrade-skyline-gtst-2iu-xtrgts-s1.html ) uses a core that is the same length as the stock core, and so does not require this extra work. It will look very much like the stock turbo. No-one uses GTR turbos of any flavour (stock, or aftermarket) in a single turbo application on RB20/25. It's not a thing. Yes, people have been putting on GT3076, GTX3076 (and bigger and smaller versions of those) and G30s (of various sizes) onto RB20/25 since forever. But these are not "bolt on". Everything except the 4 bolts to the exhaust manifold change with these. And genuine Garretts are expensive. Non-gen, like Pulsar, etc, are cheaper, variously as good or nearly as good. But still not bolt on. No-one in the right mind would pay for an HKS turbo. Not in this modern day and age. Well, yes, the GCG highflow. You could ask HG what he can do to make the compressor housing sit in the original location. There are surely others doing highflows around the world. And some of the eBay/Temu ones (as reported by Dose) work and don't die. Bit of a lottery though. I would send your turbo to GCG (here in Oz) to be highflowed if you want a trivial no-extra-work option. But seriously, the work required to change inlet and outlet piping is not that hard. That's a boost control problem, not a turbo problem.
    • Thank you all for the replys 🙂 I know that intake would be different but that is one pipe at it is not that hard to get(custom one). I meant mainly bolt to the stock manifold and the turbo elbow. I looked and many sites/forums but they are just "old" with some old HKS turbos from GT-R i guess? What about some Garrets?  Or any other turbo? Is there even a turbo which i can just bolt on? 😄 And yeah i know about that new HKS but that is like 2000k USD without taxes/shipping in here   Iam getting a touch up tune but my "problem" is that on the "not" hot day iam getting peaks around 0,9 bar...and when it was around 15 Celsious i saw peak around 1 bar which is just too much for stock turbo. And of course turbo is old and i like to get some new one for a piece of mind 🙂
    • I'm working on the assumption that our friend Jasmine here is a Russian (or, possibly Ukrainian) spammer/spambot, based purely on the number of such that I have been having to neuter in the last few weeks. IP address for the OP above was in WA. But that could have been via VPN. Posting at quarter to 4 in the morning is a good sign of being from somewhere in Europe. The last Jasmine that I kicked in the cooch was IP addressed in Ukraine. Even that could have been via VPN, and the bitchbot could have been from Russia, Serbia, China or anywhere. Regardless, was a spambot, so I killed it with fire. The fact that our new friend Jasmine here did not respond in any way to my tart query strongly suggests to me that this OP was just the establishment phase of a user able to be activated for spamming in a week, or 3 or 10.
