As a few of you know me and my neighbour will be running a SSS Pulsar in topgear events and hillclimbs etc.

Car was bought off MY105.com. At present it has the previous drivers designs (you can see it in the 'show me ur race machines' thread).

Who do we need to notify of any changes? Whats the procedure for having a numberr changed, or are they allocated? I know there are some things you need to keep eg tow point indicators, kill switch indicator etc.

We are looking at using the same colourrs (white car wtih red, blue and yellow livery) just updating it a little.

Any info would be great thanks!!

Rob

Im fairly sure for seasons, the numbers are allocated.

Well, thats for some clubs that do sprints with other clubs that are run with CAMS.

(My number from the SSCC was allocated to me)

If you are doing the CAMS hillclimb series etc, if you register at the start of the season they would issue you one, otherwise if its one hillclimb here, a sprint there, you just get a number on the day AFAIK

As for the series like Duncan races in - dunno, we'll wait for him to reply

In this instance CAMS is your friend :P

Here's details on the required shtickers and placements:

Kill Switch/Tow Points etc are pretty straight forward- you put them where they are!

Race numbes are not issued by CAMS.

If you're running in a series (like Combined Tourers) the club organising the series issues numbers at the start of the season- you basically apply for the one you want and hope it's available. Sometimes the organisers reserve numbers (like 1- to give to the previous season's winner) but basically it's as straight forward as that.

As Chris has said, it works pretty much the same way with something like the Hillclimb championships though the rounds are run by individual clubs so you can sometimes have number conflicts. When this happens the trick is to add a '1' to your number e.g. 32 becomes 132 or 321- that way you don't have to change the permanant numbers on your car.

Changes to colour schemes are trickier. Officially, if your car is log booked, you need to notify CAMS when you make changes to colour/ design- not that I know anyone who has actually done this!

    • Unsolicited advice? Keep the engine as close to stock as you can. Nothing wrong with adding some boost and making a little more power, but given where you are, you really don't want to try to make it into a monster. I can't imagine the roads are up to it, and the lack of locla support when it grenades will be a ball ache. FWIW, If there is a dyno around that you can access, then brand new injectors are a good idea, which will lead you to (at least) putting a Nistune in it, which will allow you to put an R35 AFM on it, all of which will make it possible to make it much much nicer to drive and live with.
    • List all of your mods. It sounds like an aftermarket ECU hitting rev limiter. Like a valet mode, or a cold rpm limiter?
    • @Kapr Haha yeah thats the one. I missed that you had a built up engine, I wouldn't want to run it on there either then. It was good in my situation just to replace the original turbo on a stock engine. @MBS206Yep definitely not a replacement for anything name brand
    • You are selling this? I have never bought something from marketplace...i dont know if i trust that enough. And the price is little bit "too" good...
